Special Deleivery
Posted On 11/02/2007 08:46:12
I have to say, there's just hardly anything more exciting to me than
seeing the UPS truck drive into my driveway. My kids used to call him the
"present man." When the guy hauls a cardboard box up to my door, I
still get a little goosebumpy. It's all the more exciting when I know I'm
going to get to sign the magic paper-less clipboard. It doesn't even
matter what's in the package--it's still a big box of mystery. Parts for
the dishwasher? Instruction manual for the lawnmower? That's okay. It
doesn't matter how boring the contents, it's suddenly exciting when it's
delivered by the big truck. FedEx...UPS...I love every delivery.

Our lives become exciting, too, at the point we're "delivered." Jesus
packages an eternal life full of adventure from the very moment we give
him our lives. And we find that our names are written in the
better-than-magic Lamb's Book of Life--the uber-clipboard. Psalm 116:8-9 says,
"For you, O LORD, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the LORD in the land of
the living." Out of death and into the land of real living. Our own
special delivery is so much more exciting than the biggest and best
delivery from the present man. AND, it's never COD.

attitude is everything

Today will be what we make it. Regardless of the weather, the kinds of work to be done, the personalities crossing our paths, we'll feel joy and peace if that is our choice.

Agonizing over circumstances that aren't to our liking or dwelling on our failure to control other people, whether friends or foes, has robbed us of the happiness that is always ours to experience. Depression, anger, fear, and frustration shadowed our steps because we didn't take control of the only thing that's ever been in our control absolutely - attitude.

It's so easy to blame others for every wrinkle in our lives. But as we grow accustomed to the idea of taking full responsibility for how we think and feel, we'll be empowered. No longer will our sense of self feel diminished. And, as Abraham Lincoln is credited with saying, we will be just as happy as we make up our minds to be.

Nobody can mess with my attitude but me!

Open Your eyes

God wrapped Himself and His glory in an earthly tent that from the outside must have appeared, if not ugly, then certainly very ordinary.   The tent was called the tabernacle, and it was covered with layers of goat hair and ram skins and even sea-cow hides!  A casual observer would never have suspected that there would be any glory there!  Yet the Shekinah glory of God was revealed within this inauspicious and humble covering.
Is God trying to pry open the eyes of your heart so He can show you His glory?  Is He using a personal, emotional or financial life-shaking experience for that purpose?  And have you misunderstood?  Have you squeezed your eyes shut more tightly against Him and what He is tyring to reveal to you as the intensity of your situation has increased?  Are you so focused on the outer wrappings....
       the pressure and the problems,
            the stress and the struggles,
&nb sp;    the attack and the affliction,
&nb sp;         the suffering and the sorrow,
&nb sp;               the failure and the fatigue,
&nb sp;                    the mundane and the routine,
&nb sp;                         the responsibilities and the
            &nb sp;                                  &nb sp;                    realtionships,
&nb sp;                         &nb sp;    the injustice and the
            &nb sp;                         &nb sp;                         &nb sp;        unfairness,
&nb sp;                         &nb sp;         the loss and the grief,
the "what ifs" and the "if onlys,"  that you are in danger of missing or even throwing away the fresh, personal revelation of Himself that He wants to give you?!

Unwrap the package!!!  Let go, and look up!!!  Let Him open the eyes of your heart.  OPEN YOUR EYES to the vision of His glory!!!   Prayerfully, expectantly, sincerely, open your eyes to Him!!!
Dear Lord,
What are You going to reveal to me ?  What do You have for me inside this package of pain and suffering and struggle?  My eyes are wide open!!!  Help me to not turn away from Your Glory.
&nb sp;                         &nb sp;                      In Christ,
            &nb sp;                         &nb sp;                      Amen
