2-1-2008 Witnessing

2-1-2008: It was Joe, John, Juan, Sean and me tonight out on University and we had a lot of good conversations. This time I wrote every one's name down so I would remember who I spoke with. First I spoke with a young man named Jason. He thought he was a good person and was familiar with the 10 Commandments because he was Catholic. Jason had lied, stolen, used God's name in vain and was an adulterer at heart. He also realized that if God judged using the 10 Commandments, everyone should be in hell. I agreed with him and told him the good news of what God did so that we all wouldn't have to spend eternity in hell, because of Jesus Christ and his death on the cross so that we could have eternal life, that is if we repent, turn away from sin and put our faith in His work on the cross, not our own "good" deeds. He seemed to think that made sense and he said he would read his Bible.
Next was a young man named Armit (unsure about the spelling) and he admitted to being a liar, thief, a blasphemer, but said he had never looked with lust...but he had called someone a fool/idiot before and has been angry at others, so he proved to be a murderer at heart. He said it would concern him a little if he were to have to spend eternity in hell for breaking God's laws and I told him that it concerned me and that was why I had come out to talk to him. I told him that God made a way so that he would not have to end up in hell and if he repents and puts his trust in Jesus Christ, he could be saved. Armit said he did not have a Bible at home and I advised him to look up the book of John on the Internet and that he should investigate this further, because he doesn't know if he will still have 5 more seconds or 50 more years and he should make sure he has it right. I thanked him for talking to me and he went on his way.
Next an older man who was a security guard walked by and took a million dollar bill. He had been raised Baptist and was married to a Jehovah's Witness. He thought he was a good person, but admitted to being a liar and said he once stole 10 cents from a cash register when he was little, but no one had ever found out about it, so I reminded him that God knew about it and he did say that he always felt guilty about that. He also admitted to taking God's name in vain and to looking with lust several times...He realised that he would be guilty if he was judged by the 10 Commandments and he should go to hell for that....then, just as I was giving him the good news, of what Jesus did so he would not have to go to hell, he said that he had to go, because he was working, but he thought I was a pretty young lady and walked away...Later on he walked by again and said that he had tried to cash in the million, but wasn't able to.
Then two young men from Haiti with a french accent came up and Joe spoke to one of them and I took the guy named Paul. He admitted to being a liar, a thief, a blasphemer and an adulterer at heart and said that by my logic he would have be found guilty if he would be judged by the 10 Commandments and that he would have to go to hell. He also said that he did not know what the truth was, but he was not sure if what I was saying was the truth, he needed more proof. So, I pointed to a building and asked "Do you think that building somehow accidentally came together to be a building, or do you think someone made it?". He said he thought the building had a builder. Then I asked "What proof do you have of that?" and he said that it had been designed and he admitted that the building was proof that it had a builder. So I told him, creation is proof that there is a God, it is ordered and so complex it had to be created. Well, it turned out that Paul believed in evolution and thought that the fossil record was proof for that and I tried to reason with him to help him see that even Darwin said we should have thousands of transitional fossils, but we don't even have one and the fossil record actually shows more support for the flood. There was some back and forth and he was not very reasonable, so I pretty much finally just told him how it doesn't matter what we believe, it matters what is true and he should investigate it for himself. I advised him to read the book of John and shook his hand and he went on his way once Joe was done talking to his friend.
The last one I have, was a bit funny, in that John went up to this car to open the door for the passengers, but they were not ready to get out. Finally, a girl got out from the back seat and we started talking to her. She thought she was a great person and when we went through the Law with her, it turned out she was Jewish. Her name was Jaime and she said some interesting things...she said she had had an experience not too long ago where she was up for about 5 days and she said she thought she was hallucinating, but she said she felt Jesus' presence and she thinks He could be the Messiah. We told her to check out the prophecies in the old testament and compare them with the new that she should research it. She ended up getting called away by whoever had dropped her off...they must have thought she was in distress talking to us strangers!
So that was our night...we were getting pretty cold and so we decided to head back home after that...
