The Sweetest Scandal in the History of American Health

The Sweetest Scandal in the History of American Health

(BALTIMORE, JULY 2007) The shocking truth of how a political "favor" got the government to approve this poison -- and why aspartame is making us sicker and fatter than good old sugar ever could!

Ever wonder what our former Secretary of Defense did before he got into politics?

Well years ago, he was the fearless leader of a company called GD Searle Corp. that developed a "miracle sweetener" called aspartame. (Yes, the very same stuff contained in those little blue packets.)

For years, this company tried in vain to get aspartame approved. But no one wanted to go near the stuff! The FDA refused to approve it for 16 years. In fact, according to a report I recently uncovered, the late Dr. M. Adrian Gross, a former senior FDA toxicologist, stated in his testimony before Congress:

"Beyond a shadow of a doubt, aspartame triggers brain tumors"and, "therefore, by allowing aspartame to be placed on the market the FDA has violated the Delaney Amendment, which forbids putting anything in food that is know to cause cancer...And if the FDA itself elects to violates its own the law, who is left to protect the health of the public?"

But wait, it gets worse...

In the early '80s, "Rummy the Magnificent" moved into the political arena. And one of the first moves he made was to appoint a new FDA commissioner. And guess what he did? In 1981, the new appointee approved aspartame for the good old boys back at GD Searle...despite the clinically proven dangers.

Before long, aspartame was everywhere, from soda to salad dressing! Now let's look at what it's "contributed" to America's health...

92 reasons why aspartame makes sugar look like a "good guy"...

For starters, medical authorities estimate that aspartame has brought more complaints to the FDA than any other additive. In fact, it's responsible for as many as 75 percent of such complaints to that agency. And, after receiving some 10,000 consumer complaints, the FDA compiled a list of 92 symptoms linked to aspartame -- including death.

Headaches, memory loss, seizures, vision loss, coma, and cancer. It also appears to worsen or mimic the symptoms of such conditions as fibromyalgia, MS, lupus, ADD, diabetes, Alzheimer's, chronic fatigue, and depression...

Why so many? It could be because aspartame attacks your body at the cellular level so it can negate all kinds of medications Americans take, including antidepressants, Coumadin, cardiac drugs, hormones, insulin, vaccines, and many others.

It is a deadly neurotoxic drug masquerading as a harmless additive.

And to add insult to injury...

Aspartame could makes you hungrier and fatter!

One medical investigator, Dr. H. J. Roberts, even concludes that aspartame has caused our obesity epidemic. He gives evidence that this "guilt-free" sweetener secretly makes you crave carbohydrates which, of course, make you gain weight.

How? Possibly it may trigger or over stimulate the stomach's production of ghrelin, also known as the "hunger hormone." If this hypothesis turns out to be correct, it will help to explain why all those "diet" sodas have never been much help in weight reduction. (In fact, just the opposite!)

So why is the media mum?

Simple. Because professional organizations and their publications have all been bought off.

By who? The food giants. They all use this inexpensive imposter in huge quantities for their colas, desserts, candies, and other junk foods. And they're the ones who have financed a raft of studies "proving" the safety of aspartame.

So what's safe and actually
TASTES GOOD?

I can hear you asking: "Ok, so what can I sprinkle into my coffee?"

Let's run through the usual suspects then I'll tell you what I've been using...

SUGAR: A spoonful once in a while is fine, but in time, too much sugar can lead to diabetes, which will lead to heart disease, renal disease, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic retinitis (blindness), diabetic peripheral neuropathy and the list goes on and on. (Even so, next to aspartame, sugar looks almost attractive!)

SUCRALOSE: A very dangerous new chemical -- because in order to make sucralose, chlorine is added to sugar! Ever spilled chlorine bleach on your skin? No wonder that research by the Sucralose Toxicity Information Center showed that years of sucralose use can lead to serious compromise of the immune system and neurological disorders.

SACCHARINE: Yuck. Despite those famous animal studies, I actually don't count saccharine as much of a cancer threat to humans. But face it, saccharine tastes like the chemical experiment it is. Enough said.

STEVIA: Yes, it's natural. Yes, it's safe. But no, it tastes nothing like sugar. Okay for some, but not in my coffee!

XYLITOL: Almost gets a perfect score. Natural, tastes like sugar, good for your teeth, doesn't spike blood sugar. On the down side, it gives some folks the trots.

AND THE WINNER IS:

You've probably never heard of it. It's called erythritol. And here's the best news: erythritol is natural, virtually calorie-free, tastes like sugar, doesn't affect blood sugar or insulin levels, reduces dental plaque -- and unlike xylitol, has no laxative side-effects. Available as Smart Sweet, it gets the Dr. Douglass nod!

The food giants would certainly like to keep these discoveries hush-hush. But now that you know the facts, you can kiss those killer awful blueblue packets good-bye forever. And satisfy that sweet tooth with a yummy, natural, safe alternative.

So who am I to be swinging this ax?

I’m William Campbell Douglass, M.D.

Tips on losing weight
Posted On 11/11/2007 15:24:28
Tips on losing weight Body: 1. Eat what is at your taste. Have excellent meals with several dishes.
2. Choose what is healthy for you. I give here only advices that are healthy for normally healthy people.
3. Try to find out by what dishes you loose weight and by what dishes you put on. People are different in all, what makes put on weight the one, doesn’t necessarily put on flesh to the other one.
4. Don’t eat more than 1500 to 1800 kcal per day. It depends on your objective. If you want to loose about 5 kg (2,265 lbs) in a week, eat only 1200 calories.
An adult woman needs about 2100 kcal a day.
An adult man needs about 2600 kcal a day.
The best is to eat 5 small meals during well dispersed all over the day. But many people lack of opportunities to do so. And many others fail because they are hungry, as they eat less. So they haven’t often enough willpower to stay to their calories-limit.
People who are good fat burners (high metabolism) can eat more calories without putting weight on. But with growing age the metabolism weakens and people put on weight faster. The metabolism weakens also by wrong diets, when you loose weight too quickly. After that the metabolism changes because you eat less food. And when you begin afterwards to eat normally a maximum is extracted out of the food and you put on weight more quickly than you have lost it.
So the best is to avoid an unfavorable change of the metabolism by eating aliments with little fibers and many calories (sweets, meat, sausages, hamburgers, fish, cream, French-fried…).
However if you eat aliments that have many fibers and little calories (vegetables, fruits but no bananas, whole bread, whole rice…) you will not change your metabolism negatively, but you will loose weight less quickly.
5. Try to get a table of food-calories by downloading it out of the Internet, for instance.
6. Fix a maximum of weight you will absolutely not pass beyond. Weigh you every day, the best in the morning. So you can easily find out what makes you gain weight or loose weight. It’s much easier than counting calories every day. And the result is the same if you weigh you every day.
7. Eat slowly and without stress. Let smelt tasty dishes on the tongue. Remember that you eat too much and without control under stress.
8. Do prefer good tasting dishes with few calories to dishes with many calories: fruit, vegetables, meager meats, meager fish, sweets with less sugar or sweetening or sugar mixed with sweetening 1:1. For myself I prefer good savory meats and fish and then I eat less or I eat several dishes.
9. Before breakfast start with a cup of lukewarm water. Then eat what you like.
10. At least an hour before the main meal, start with fruits of the season. Or eat a salad an hour before the real meal. So you will be less hungry before the meal. It is much healthier than taking powders diluted in water to fill the stomach up.
By the way fruits taste better if you put half a strawberry on a slice of a nectarine on a slice of an apple. Half a berry of a grape to put on a slice of a pear to put on a slice of a peach. Or make a salad of fresh fruit.
An example of several dishes prepared very quickly: Fruit / smoked salmon with salad/ main dish/ dessert.
Prefer fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, or frozen vegetables, to fruits and vegetables in cans and glasses.
11. Drink at least 2 liters of beverage without calories. Water / Water with lemon juice and sweetening / Water with fresh fruit juice and sweetening / Water with a spoonful of apple vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
After getting up drink a glass of warm water.
Drink sometimes water with a spoon of apple vinegar.
12. If you discover in the morning that you have put on weight stop eating the same day five hours before going to bed.
13. Don’t eat much at the evening. Or dishes with few calories: salads, soup of vegetables without butter or cream, prefer milk.
14. Prefer fat and oil made out of vegetables: olive oil and colza oil. Do not heat over 100°, then it is not healthy anymore. So it is not good for roasting, grilling...
Sunflower oil is good for everything, because healthy and neutral of taste.
Restrict fat made out of cream and extracted out of animal protein.
15. Mental preparation is important too: be proud that you eat now very controlled, that you prefer quality to quantity, that you make a healthy and a tasty choice of dishes, that you eat like people who know much about good food, that you are self-controlled and have got a strong will to do right, that you have made new experiences and that you know more than many others about good food, that you can share your experiences with others and give them good advices.

ATTENTION:
16. At evening, when you sit before TV, and when you are unoccupied, you risk to succumb under your desires to taste and to eat something you like most. When you succumb now by exciting your gustatory papillas by the slightest peace of food, even of very few calories, it becomes very difficult for you to resist. The only thing, which can help you then, is autosuggestion.
Try autosuggestion on the three dimensions: body, feelings and thoughts.
Body: Drink a lot of water or tea (peppermint, chamomile etc.) without sugar or sweetening,
washing and cleaning your teeth could stop your envy, start an activity the best outside or wherever there is no food.
Avoid by all means to stimulate your gustatory papillas otherwise it will be very difficult to retain the desire to eat something.
Feelings: Just say and repeat so often than needed: “I am not hungry”.. “I am not hungry”… “I have enough will and will not eat sweets”. “I have already eaten this”. I have no desire to eat chocolate or …”.
Thoughts: “I will eat that tomorrow morning…I will eat that for lunch. I won’t eat this in the evening. I won’t eat anything after four o’clock”…
The principle is that you active your sub-conscience which acts on your behavior by saying and believing in these sentences. The stronger you believe in your sub-conscious powers the more you will succeed to realize your aims (everywhere and not only in your diet). It is a sort of placebo effect. As I said, it functions only when you believe in it.
17. Mostly all diets have negative and only short effects.
18. Make sports, I mean physical exercises, which make you transpire.
Fact is, that if you are able to make sports during three hours a day, you loose mostly water, you build up muscles and you loose more or less 1000 gr. One hour of exercises is a loss of 300-400 gr.
Be aware, that the higher you’re overweight, the more you are able to loose weight at the beginning of the diet.
Don’t get disappointed when you find out that there are days you haven’t lost weight, despise of your efforts. It’s quite normal because men don’t make progress continuously but by steps. After some days of stagnation you will go on loosing weight at the condition that you won’t have lost your courage and your will.
19. Tips for dishes:
- Buy vanilla ice cream, mix fruit (strawberries or mangos or kiwis or.) in a mixer, freeze it, and mix the half frozen fruit with the ice cream 1:1. And you will get an ice-cream, better than those you can buy, with half fewer fat and half fewer sugar, and very easy to prepare.
- Mix fresh fruit; add low fat yogurt and sweetening. Mix all.
- Eat whole grain bread and rice. If you ask me on this side, I will give you an excellent recipe for whole grain bread easily to bake.
- Eat only chocolate of more than 75% cacao.
20. Last and efficient advice, try this:
Fix your objective and limit the amount of calories per day according to it. Don’t forget to take in consideration the 19 points described above.
Eat what you want in the morning and at noon.
But in the evening eat fruits, or vegetables, or vegetable soup, or salad, or meat, or fish.
Don’t eat at your last meal milk products, or sweets, or food made out of flour, or potatoes, or rice, or nuts, and I guess you will loose weight rapidly. This is similar to the so-called “food separation diet”. This diet has the advantage that you feel light after the meal. But here, as well as anywhere else, you must avoid, to take more calories, that you are able to burn. Otherwise you will surely put on weight.

Don’t ever forget that people are different. No diet and no advices are necessarily adapted to you.
So every diet has to be adapted to the patient, and not the patient to the diet. That’s what I would like to write on the door of every school: The pedagogical principals must be adapted to the different pupils and not the pupils to the pedagogical principles.

P. s: It exists a variation. Eat as described above the first day, but stop eating at 16 hours. The second day eat only vegetable soup. And go on like this as long as you want. This is also a perfectly healthy and efficient diet.
A recipe for an excellent soup: put in a pan olive oil and half an onion cut in slices. Let it blanch. Add a small potato cut in small pieces and vegetables. The best are all sorts of cabbage, kale, cauliflower and others with few calories salad, spinach, celery, tomatoes... Use eventually deep frozen vegetables; it’s less preparation and they have at least as many vitamins. By blanching the vegetables get more taste. Boil water. Add soup tablets (I prefer vegetable powder) and salt. Add the vegetables. Let cook. Mix all up. Add cream (more calories), or milk (less calories), or water (no calories).
A last idea: if you eat this or a similar soup during several days and nothing else, and drink 5 pints of water you will loose more or less two pounds every day. It’s a healthy diet (I give only healthy advices), but it is dull.

Good luck, much patience, much will and the more you believe in yourself the more you will be successful.

Do You Want To Lose Weight Without Going Crazy?
Posted On 11/11/2007 15:20:30

Do You Want To Lose Weight Without Going Crazy? Body: Here's what to do if you want to wear that slinky black dress, and stay sane:

1. Make sure that you're not being neurotic and overly body conscious.

Meditate. Try to catch yourself naked unawares in a full length mirror. Find out your ideal height-weight ratio. Get some amateur photos taken of yourself in casual clothes. Try to be detached and objective.

Overweight is sometimes a state of mind instead of body. What trauma or childhood inadequacy causes you to see yourself as fat and undesirable, when medically you're normal, or just a little full figured?

If you are definitely a fatty:

2. Meditate. Try to home in on the reason you are overweight.

Is it genetic; are your family 'big-boned'? If not, what need are you trying to fill by stuffing yourself; are you anxious, insecure, do you have family or money or sexual troubles? If so deal with THEM and your need to eat will be easier to beat.

Eating is pleasurable; we get a rush of blood sugar which makes us temporarily feel good, and having a full stomach makes us feel sleepy and calmed down. Are you going for the effect rather than the nourishment?

3. Change your diet.

Eat simpler, less processed, less over-prepared and overcooked food.

Get back to the basics. Substitute fruit for candies, wholemeal bread and boiled potatoes for potato chips, lean steak for burgers, water instead of fizzy drinks.

Eat a grape or a piece of orange instead of a candy; you get a better 'buzz', and it's healthier for you. Another benefit of eating whole, natural food is you fill up quickly, while eating less. The horror of junk food is that it's got loads of fats and sugars in it while not being physically substantial; you can eat ounces of fat in seconds.

Basically, if a chimp wouldn't eat it, you shouldn't eat it. Yes, I KNOW a chimp could probably get hooked on junk food. All right, try this; if an athlete preparing for a track meeting wouldn't eat it, you shouldn't.

Have three meals a day only. Have a proper breakfast; people tend to skip this and then have snacks later to keep themselves going. This is folly.

NO snacks in between; let your belly growl. You're going to train it to need less. It will protest, as it's used to being big, but it will adjust in time.

Stay away from people and places which remind you of your old treats. Try not to let on you're dieting; your 'friends' will try to get you off it, or tempt you
for fun.

4. Take more exercise.

You can do light exercise, or better yet work it into your daily routine.

Don't walk when you can run, don't run where you could cycle, leave the car in the garage. Do more household chores the hard way. Take the stairs instead of the lift.

If your work or chores involve exercise it's easy to get your subconscious to go along with it. It seems less of a trial, and you're killing two birds with one stone.

Exercise for it's own sake is hard; part of us can see no immediate gain to doing it, and puts up mental and emotional barriers.

Clean your house, jog to the shops, dig the garden, explore your locale on foot.

Exercise at home. Do push ups, pull ups, sit-ups, use a couple of chairs as dumb-bells. It's a bother and an expense to go to a gym; set up your own routine at home, and stick to it five days out of every seven.

5. Do not take special medications or diet foods if you can help it.

Diet medications are usually amphetamine or stimulant-based; they perk you up, so you don't feel depressed or hungry. Soldiers use amphetamines in war; they keep you keen, and you don't feel hungry. The trouble is you become physically addicted to them, instead of food, and you're worse off in the end. They rot your body and your mind, and you have exchanged one fixation for another, more urgent one.

Eating food supplements will take off the pounds; you'll lose a few pounds to begin with in ANY diet anyway. However, what will happen when you stop eating this expensive food substitute? Unless your will power is engaged, you'll revert to your old habits.

Losing weight involves an act of WILL. If you're the sort of person who diets for a bit and then 'rewards' yourself with a cream cake, WHO are you trying to fool? Your subconscious, your friends? You won't fool the bathroom scales, or that dress you're trying to get into.

Perhaps part of you would like to be slim, especially on public occasions. The other, deeper, part wants to gorge itself on WHATever it likes, WHENever it likes. Eating is lovely, isn't it? It may be your one consolation in an otherwise miserable life.

To fix your weight, fix the other problems in your life, then staying off the snacks will be much easier.

This involves finding out what vocation you have in life. What do you REALLY want to do? If it's nothing, then that's fine. Once you acknowledge this, you'll find your peace of mind improves, and your craving for food will be less.

Otherwise find some activity you can devote yourself to, that engages your whole being.

About Me-Story Of My life
Posted On 05/02/2007 11:52:09

Hi my name is Linda, and I was born and raised in West Palm Beach,Florida.

I was raised in a foster home, due to my parents not getting along. And the abuse I heard about she went through, later on in years.

I didn't even know at the time, that I was a foster child. I did not know I was one till 14 year of age,I was so surprised.

Cause my foster parents treated me well, and my other sister to,and my brother to.

I am an older sister of two,and an older sister of two brothers. One died before my baby sister was born.

I never even knew I had a baby sister till later on.

I had so many questions about this, and then my foster Mom told me about my family.

And what happened to me. So then I said that.I wanted to get to know my real parents. So she got in touch with my

Social worker, and I met my parents. It was nice, and when I found out I had a baby sister. I was excited about hearing that.

My second older sister and I,and my brother all got taken from my Mom and Dad. But I never knew that at all.

I use to have problems with my family, but because of God we have grown closer. I know that we will always have our problems,

And that no family is perfect. But I still love my family no matter what.

My foster parents brought me up well, but use to take me to a baptist church.

So at the time,I did not know about being baptized in Jesus name. I did not even know about the Holy Ghost, all I knew about.

Was being saved, and also asking God in my heart. Finally one day a cab driver spoke to me about it,and told me

About being baptized in Jesus name. He also told me about the Holy Ghost, and so then I decided to go and see about

All this that was spoken of. I wanted to check it out for myself, and see what he was talking about.

I just had to know for me,and knew I had to go.

At that time I was going to a baptist church, then decided to go to this other church this man spoke about.

I went to visit finally, and it scared me. I saw how people spoke in tongues, and to me it was strange.

At the time I did not understand it,and I thought everyone weird or crazy. So I ended up going back to the baptist

Church again. Yet still was thinking that, there was something about this church but couldnt figure out what it was.

So then after going for a bit at the baptist church again,I felt the need to go back to the pentecostle church again.

God started working in my life, and he fillled me with the Holy Ghost. I then spoke in tongues, and did not understand it.

But at least God knew what I was saying. After that I never went back to the baptist church, and glad that God changed my life.

Everytime I went back to the pentecostle church,I was feeling a tug. Never knowing it was God,and realized later it was.

I then one day felt like crying on the altar, and felt a tug at my heart. And all of a sudden it felt like a lightning bolt struck me.

I was then knocked out, down on the floor. And that is when I started speaking in tongues, crying in tears to God.

I was speaking another language, and  that is when I also decided to be baptist in Jesus name.

It's been wonderful,I have been saved for over 15 Years.

When I was 18 or 19 years of age,I was living at the time with my foster mom

And I was introduced to this man. Who was a blind date, and he was sweet when I first met him.

But at the the time I was already dating a guy,and he was the love of my life. But his mom said I would not be good for him.

So being pushed away like I did,not from him but his mom. I felt the need to look around and see if there could be another guy for me.

That is when I was introduced to this man,who was a blind date.

During dating this man I got pregnant by him,and was not married at the time. I knew of my mistake and God was showing me things,I did end up getting married when I was pregnant with my first child.

I always had a love for him,and did want to be with him.

Later on I ended up with my second child, and he was just a special love as my first one was.

During the years,my first husband and I did not get along well.

He did step into a church once, but then he told me some stupid things. I realize he was not for me,after he

started doing drugs and drinking some. I then decided I better change my life even more.

I knew I could not save him, only God could do this.

My Mother in law,who is not alive anymore. and was in a cult like her husband was.

Threaten once to take my kids away from me,yet I did nothing wrong.

It was my husband who was not helping the situation,I then knew I had to leave.

Well online I did meet a man,who changed my life. He was saved like me.

I started realizing that God brought him by my way,

I use to be abused by my first husband. Maybe not physically, but emotionally yes.

I knew that God was gonna get me away from him somehow.

I started staying with my sister and my Mom,but things did not work out so well.

after all small place,I then knew that the only place to go to was the guy I met online.

God sent me there,I felt that way anyway. and I was going through a divorce.

I know we make mistakes in life, and I did make things right with God.

I then later on married this guy who I  met online,  in a Apostolic Christian Chat room and was already divorced from my first husband.

Been in love ever since, but I say for some people wait on God.

Don't fall into the wrong thing, and let God deal with your life. i should know I have come a long way now.

I now have been married for about 3 years now,and it is wonderful.

God is a good God,and I have changed through the years.

and still changing everday. God bless you all.
