One of the Biggest Selling Rock Bands in Christian Music History Receives the Highest Music Industry Recognition, Just Prior to Its Release of For the Love of the Game
December 6, 2007 – Pillar, one of the biggest selling Rock bands in Christian Music history, received its first-ever GRAMMY nomination today. The band received the nod in the category of Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album for The Reckoning, at a press conference held at the Music Box in Hollywood. The nominations were announced by The Recording Academy.
Pillar front man Rob Beckley, who is currently in Germany preparing to take the stage for a concert, shares, "Musically speaking, it doesn't get any higher than this. The only way to top what has happened today, would be to win this GRAMMY Award. After all of our years on the road and in the studio, there are few words to fully capture our feeling during this moment. We totally love what we are privileged to do; and that's play rock and roll for a living, and be a part of seeing people's lives changed in the process."
The 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 10, 2008, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
Since Pillar's Dove Award-winning debut Above in 2001, the band has tallied eight No. 1 radio singles, twelve top 5 hits, four Dove Awards, a GRAMMY nomination, seven national headlining tours, covers of numerous national magazines, sales well into the hundreds of thousands, and played for millions. Pillar's fifth in-studio project, For the Love of the Game, will hit stores on February 26, 2008. For The Love Of The Game is big, fun, infectious rock and roll that further solidifies Pillar's position as fearless leaders in the Christian Rock world. Additionally, February of 2008 will bring the start of Pillar's 3-month headlining tour. Pillar is: Rob Beckley, vocals; Lester Estelle, drums ; Noah Henson, guitar ; and Kalel, bass.

Starting tonight (10/26/07), ESPN will begin use of the new Pillar song, "For the Love of the Game," during montages highlighting the 2007 WORLD SERIES on its program, BASEBALL TONIGHT. ESPN will continue use of the song through Nov. 1, which is the scheduled-date for game 7 of the 2007 World Series (if necessary). "For the Love of the Game" is the title-track to Pillar's Feb. 26, 2008 release, and has already claimed the "most added" title on the R&R Christian Rock chart despite the fact that it's add date is Nov. 16. Pillar's first single "For The Love Of The Game" from the upcoming album of the same name was the #1 most added song on Christian Rock radio this week. That catch is the single doesn't officially hit radio until November 3rd. People are excited about this song! Posted 10/16/07 by pillar Underground Army - this is a call to arms! The title cut from the next Pillar cd "For The Love of The Game" has been released to ChristianRock.net. This was released a little early which means we have an advantage for getting the song into the #1 requested slot! Ya'll are gonna love this song! So I believe the new album is now completely done, mixed, bagged, and tagged. Ready to go. Our producer spent the weekend with legendary mixer, David Leonard (Prince), to finish up the final mixes. The first single should be coming out in later October sometime. We haven’t decided which song that is going to be yet. This last Thursday/Friday we had a photoshoot out in Nashville, TN for the new album. Check out my new doo. What do you think? We did acquire some very nice threads. Photoshoots are always good for that. We are all much too lazy to actually go shopping to pick up stuff that is actually cool looking. Sweat pants and tank top all day. And then, we rocked a Shout Fest date in Jackson, TN; and then, we rocked another one in Quincy, IL. Almost got rained out tonight. Lots of lightening too, but we still managed to pull off a set without dying. I slipped on the wet stage tonight and partial pulled my groin (excuse me) and it hurts really bad. Hey, it comes with the business. Well, we are on our way home. I’ll be watching Heroes tonight and taking Kaden to his second soccer practice on Tuesday. Call it a week. Check back, we should have some really coo’, new live pictures posted up here soon. Peace. -Kalel
