Modern Proverbs

The best way to get even is to forget...

Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death...

God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts...

Some folks wear their halos much too tight...

Some marriages are made in heaven,
but they ALL have to be maintained on earth...

Unless you can create the WHOLE universe in 5 days,
Then perhaps giving "advice" to God, isn't such a good idea!

Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up...

Standing in the middle of the road is dangerous.
You will get knocked down by the traffic from both ways.

Words are windows to the heart.

A skeptic is a person who when he sees the handwriting on the wall, claims
it's a forgery.

It isn't difficult to make a mountain out of a molehill - just add a little
dirt.

A successful marriage isn't finding the right person - it's being the right
person.

The mighty oak tree was once a little nut that held its ground.

Too many people offer God prayers, with claw marks all over them.

The tongue must be heavy indeed, because so few people can hold it.

To forgive is to set the prisoner free, and then discover the prisoner was
you.

You have to wonder about humans, they think God is dead and Elvis is alive!

It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again.
Just be sure to flush when you are done.

You'll notice that a turtle only makes progress when it sticks out its neck...

If the grass is greener on the other side of the fence,
you can bet the water bill is higher.

God gave the angels Wings,
and He gave humans CHOCOLATE.

"The shortest distance between a problem and a solution
is the distance between your knees and the floor.
The one who kneels to the Lord can stand up to anything."

My Dream..

My dream...

I dreamt last night of a snow white rose and a lady dressed in white
was a vision I can remember clear and there was a light so bright
and there appeared a beautiful dove and I seen water oh so blue
and then a hand appeared from out of nowhere and wrote..I love you...

Our Groom is coming to collect His bride..and He will be arriving soon
As we look up toward the Eastern skies it could be morning, night or noon.
And what a gathering it will be for our loved ones gone before
will be with us once again that day and we will see their smile once more.

And never more will we have to part from those we love so dear
no more tears..no more pain..no more death..no more bad news to hear.
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved someone like me...
I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see...

Every Woman Is Beautiful

Every Woman Is Beautiful

A little boy asked his mother "Why are you crying?"
"Because I'm a woman", she told him. "I don't understand", he said. His mum just hugged him and
said, "And you never will"...

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry. Finally he put in a call to God; and when God got on the phone, the man said, "God, why do women cry so easily?"

God said: "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world; yet gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed. "You see, the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her
heart - the place where love resides"

Every woman is Beautiful.........God bless you...love phyl

It Depends On Who's Hands It's In

It Depends On Who's Hands It's In

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Mark McGuire's hands is worth about $19 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Pete Sampras' hands is a Wimbleton Championship.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy.
A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and 5 loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.
So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your families and your relationships in God's hands, because It depends whose hand it's in.

Before I Go

Before I Go

When my life has reached its very end,
And I take that final breath;
I want to know I've left behind,
Some "good" before my death.

I hope that in my final hour,
In all honesty I can say:
That somewhere in my lifetime,
I have brightened someone's day.

That maybe I have brought a smile
To someone else's face,
And made one moment a little sweeter
While they dwelled here in this place.

Lord, please be my reminder
And whisper softly in my ear ...
To be a "giver," not a "taker,"
In the years I have left here.

Give to me the strength I need,
Open up my mind and my soul
That I might show sincere compassion,
And love to others before I go.

For if not a heart be touched by me,
And not a smile was left behind ...
Then the life that I am blessed with,
Will have been a waste of time.

With all my heart, I truly hope
To leave something here on earth ...
That touched another, made them smile
And gave to my life ... worth.

A Child's Prayer

A Child's Prayer

The small child listened quietly as the Preacher began to give his last altar call. He watched as no one moved; none seemed to need a prayer at all. None seemed to need forgiveness for their sin. Everyone seemed pleased with the way their lives had been. The child looked all around him & perhaps didn't understand. But, he believed in Jesus, and down the aisle he ran! He reached the front, fell to his knees, and then began to pray.

As the preacher knelt by his side, he heard the small child say, "Jesus, I know you know who I am. But, in case you've forgotten, my name is Sam. I'm the one who will not play with many of my friends just because their favorite toys, to me they will not lend. I'm the one, dear Jesus, who always wants his way; and, I won't always listen to what others have to say. And, I'm the one that never ever wants to do his part, even when I know what's right way deep down in my heart. And, I guess, Jesus, I'm the one that leaves things all half done. And, once I even stomped my foot when that other person won. And, I know you saw what I did just the other day. I got awful mad and pushed & shoved that boy out of my way. But, Jesus, I want you to know I'm sorry for the bad things I do. And, I want to try to do better. Can you love me and forgive me too? I would like to be like these people here today, for they must never do anything wrong or I guess you'd be hearing them say,

'Forgive me too, Jesus, and help me to be more like you,' --- instead of more like me!" The Preacher stood up slowly, with tears in both his eyes; the Congregation all had heard, and they too had begun to cry. For this small humble child had taught each of them today, just what Faith was all about and just how they should pray. Each one of them was made aware how "closed" they had become, when down the aisle, with open heart, they saw this small child run.
