Apathy
Posted On 09/17/2006 08:38:55
The majority of professing believers I meet, have no spiritual ambition, no desire to reach the lost, and are extremely apathetic to the cause of the Gospel[or any betterment of the planet]. As a pastor it is quite frustrating. The atitude of the people within the bounds of the organized church in America, often is more self serving than those who do not profess salvation in Christ. But that is a sign of the times. In the end times, there would be quite the more false professions than Holy Spirit possessions. Revelation 3:14-17 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I have seen many confuse this passage and believe that it's dealing with saved people, but it's not. When Christ says the people are poor, blind, and naked, rest assured they know not salvation. That's why the rest of the chapter reads with Christ on the outside knocking to come in.I guess interpreting that the lukewarm people are just backslid christians shows the spiritual discernment of who's teaching it. Matthew 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits... Please be wary and walk circumspectly in our churches today. Take nothing for granted. Many people who profess christianity are just religious. Be mindful..their eternal destiny may depend upon it.Do you care?
