This past month has been difficult. I'm hoping that by posting this blog, I will self medicate and start to feeling better. My husband and I are not together and are working our way toward a divorce. There was lying involved and I just don't feel that this is something to be taken lightly. My son has bounced back suprisingly well to all the turmoil in his life. His main concern in moving was that he would have to leave the Dojo(karate school) he was in to get a new one. We can all learn something by children's adaptablity! I find myself in a strange land. God's love is all around me and I feel it, This is just something that I've never had to navigate as a single mother before, it's kind of scarry. I've found that just being honest with my son is the best way to let him know what is going on. I don't want to sheild from live anymore...I've seen just how that can damage a relationship. Reality is my new motto. With God at the head of our new smaller family, reality doesn't seem so very scarry.
Hi to all my friends out there!,
I'm in Atlanta, GA getting ready to play tonight at Eddie's Attic in Decatur. This will be my third time at the attic and each time is better than the last. I will be debuting two pieces of music tonight. One I wrote as a reaction to the rainy weather we were having. The other centers on the season we are in...Christmas. I am daily amazed at how people get caught up in the buying of gifts and don't put enough emphasis on Jesus Christ. I admit to getting caught up in the 'hipe' of the season too. I found myself stressing over the fact that I couldn't get my husband all the gifts that I wanted, when the very best gift has been given to all his children. The gift of Christ. Weather or not there is a big something under the tree isn't the point, sharing our faith with others and leading them to Christ is the most important thing. I try to remember that when I'm homeschooling our son, but I should practice what I preach.
Anyway, 'Christmas is Coming, Christmas is Near' is about how we think 'things' are the important part of Christmas, with a gentle reminder of why we have Christmas.
If I can record it tonight, I'm hoping to make a CD of live recordings. This is one that I think should be on there for sure!
Blessings,
Toni
