Total Giving

She out of her poverty put in all that she had. —Mark 12:44

Mr. Branon, I have to talk with you about something really important," said the voice on the other end of the line. It was 2 days before a small group of teens and adults were to leave for Jamaica on a special missions trip. We had been planning for months to go to a school for deaf children to build a much-needed playground. So, when this teen called, I thought, Oh, no. She can’t go.

But when she, her mom, and I met for lunch that day, I found out how truly special this young lady was. She told me she was donating her entire savings to help pay for the trip—money she had been saving to buy a car. "As I was praying the past couple of nights," she explained, "I felt that God was telling me to give all of my money." That day we had tears of joy with our burgers and fries.

What a picture of how much of ourselves we should offer Him! God wants total sacrifice—as difficult as that can be—not just 10-percent giving. If Jesus is indeed our Lord, we must give our entire being to Him. Our speech. Our time. Our choices.

Jesus praised the widow who "out of her poverty put in all that she had" (Mark 12:44). Imagine the influence we could have if we practiced giving our all Dave Branon

If you cannot give your thousands,
You can give the widow’s mite,
And the least you do for Jesus
Will be precious in His sight. —Anon.

Giving is easier when you give yourself to the Lord.

Dirty Jobs

Dirty Jobs

Jesus put out His hand and touched him. —Matthew 8:3

One TV personality seeks out the most dirty and grimy jobs he can find. Then he does those jobs on camera so we can all be grossed out.

The surprising thing that usually comes out of this excursion into grime is that the people who do these really nasty chores for a living seem happy to be doing them.

I wonder if that’s the way it is among the people of God. In the church and in the community of God’s people, there are definitely “dirty” jobs that God has called us to do.

For instance, where is the glamour in working in a homeless shelter, providing gospel hope and physical help to street people? Where is the intrinsic joy in walking into a hospital room to visit a patient who has just received awful news from the doctor? And how can it be easy to sit across the counseling room from an abused spouse and try to help her retain her dignity and piece her life back together?

Imagine how the crowds gasped when Jesus reached out and touched the leper. He was not afraid of “dirty” jobs. Jesus came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10). He was “moved with compassion” for the lame, the ill, the downtrodden (Matt. 9:36). Let’s follow His lead and with love tackle the tough tasks around us. Dave Branon

No matter what my daily chores might be
To earn my livelihood, still may I see
My job, the real position that I hold,
Is bringing others to the Master’s fold.  —Stalter

Work well done for Christ will receive a “well done” from Christ.

The Key to the Missionary’s Devotion

The Key to the Missionary’s Devotion

Our Lord told us how our love for Him is to exhibit itself when He asked, "Do you love Me?" ( John 21:17 ). And then He said, "Feed My sheep." In effect, He said, "Identify yourself with My interests in other people," not, "Identify Me with your interests in other people." 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 shows us the characteristics of this love— it is actually the love of God expressing itself. The true test of my love for Jesus is a very practical one, and all the rest is sentimental talk.

Faithfulness to Jesus Christ is the supernatural work of redemption that has been performed in me by the Holy Spirit— "the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit . . ." ( Romans 5:5  ). And it is that love in me that effectively works through me and comes in contact with everyone I meet. I remain faithful to His name, even though the commonsense view of my life may seemingly deny that, and may appear to be declaring that He has no more power than the morning mist.

The key to the missionary’s devotion is that he is attached to nothing and to no one except our Lord Himself. It does not mean simply being detached from the external things surrounding us. Our Lord was amazingly in touch with the ordinary things of life, but He had an inner detachment except toward God. External detachment is often an actual indication of a secret, growing, inner attachment to the things we stay away from externally.

The duty of a faithful missionary is to concentrate on keeping his soul completely and continually open to the nature of the Lord Jesus Christ. The men and women our Lord sends out on His endeavors are ordinary human people, but people who are controlled by their devotion to Him, which has been brought about through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Choice

First of all I'll say all the scripture below are inspiring me to write this.
As we live our lives our  God gives us choices to make, He gives us life to Glorify Him. We all will have no excuse when we stand in front of Him someday..He tells us that if we look at creation HIS hand is there and his face, and his work, we will have no excuse not to believe in Him just by looking at the sky or looking at a baby and also looking at ourselves. We are able to choose to believe in him or not..
He gave us this and when we do believe He blesses us with all that we have now, and it also rains on the just and the unjust...we have sorrow and pain because of sin that came into this world when the fall happened in Genesis..Eve had a choice, to listen to God or to live for her own desires and listen to the serpent..Also when I first became a christian, I thought it would be some miraculous feeling, but to my surprise it's not about feelings, it's about believing, about making that choice to choose God or not to ...
When Jesus returns, everyone in the world will have no excuse, we all have a choice..my choice is JESUS...Whats yours?
I just wanted to say this to inspire and to help others know Why I believe..
If God loved me so much, that He gave up His only Son so I could be in heaven with Him, how can I not live for Him..think about it..

Romans 1:18-21 (NIV)
God's Wrath Against Mankind

18.The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19.since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20.For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21.For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.

Acts 22:15

15.You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard.

1 Corinthians 7:15

15.But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace.

John 20:31

31.But these are written that you may[a] believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

Just a few more things, some ask if atheism

Is a religion..

No, it is not. There are indeed organizations that are wholly or partially atheistic, but there is no religion named "atheism". In fact, atheists often take different positions on substantial issues, such as how strongly they should doubt or deny the existence of gods.

I think we are all without excuse, when Jesus returns all creation will see Him coming, and some will try to flee to mountains and try to hide and pray that the tree's and mountains fall on them, this shows that God is all powerful and we should really fear him and love Him with all our hearts..

Individual Discouragement and Personal Growth
. . when Moses was grown . . . he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens —Exodus 2:11

Moses saw the oppression of his people and felt certain that he was the one to deliver them, and in the righteous indignation of his own spirit he started to right their wrongs.

After he launched his first strike for God and for what was right, God allowed Moses to be driven into empty discouragement, sending him into the desert to feed sheep for forty years.

At the end of that time, God appeared to Moses and said to him, " ’. . . bring My people . . . out of Egypt.’ But Moses said to God, ’Who am I that I should go . . . ?’ " ( Exodus 3:10-11  ). In the beginning Moses had realized that he was the one to deliver the people, but he had to be trained and disciplined by God first.

He was right in his individual perspective, but he was not the person for the work until he had learned true fellowship and oneness with God.

We may have the vision of God and a very clear understanding of what God wants, and yet when we start to do it, there comes to us something equivalent to Moses’ forty years in the wilderness. It’s as if God had ignored the entire thing, and when we are thoroughly discouraged, God comes back and revives His call to us.

And then we begin to tremble and say, "Who am I that I should go . . . ?" We must learn that God’s great stride is summed up in these words—

 "I AM WHO I AM . . . has sent me to you" ( Exodus 3:14 ).

We must also learn that our individual effort for God shows nothing but disrespect for Him— our individuality is to be rendered radiant through a personal relationship with God, so that He may be "well pleased" ( Matthew 3:17  ).

We are focused on the right individual perspective of things; we have the vision and can say, "I know this is what God wants me to do." But we have not yet learned to get into God’s stride. If you are going through a time of discouragement, there is a time of great personal growth ahead.
