Posted On 07/19/2008 15:35:37
Yes, this is boring, thank you for reading this far. Today I won a games of Settlers through hard work and long turns, and that's about it. Oh, yeah, we had breakfast at my grandparents today with LOTS of food! But not enough pancakes... At the moment my parents are out buying our new car and shopping for stuff at Wal-Mart. They've been gone FOREVER. Well, tune in next time for the random thoughts of my day. Thanks for reading.

Awesome Camps
Posted On 07/18/2008 18:37:27
I love camp. My grandfather runs a camp where we live called Coldstream Christian Camp. We just recently had girls camp and boys camp, with 28 boys and 49 girls not including counselors and other staff. The theme for both was AMAZON EXPEDITION from the Creation Museum. We learned about the 7 C's of history, CREATION, CORRUPTION, CATASTROPHE, CONFUSION, CHRIST, CROSS CONSUMMATION. We played awesome games like sponge dodgeball and Amazon Jungle, listened to chapels led by strong Christians, and ate frozen yet still delicious foods. I liked the sirloin patties and gravy, aka mystery meat.  The girls partied on the last night with glowsticks and music, and the boys went on a float trip. Not only that, the boys got to see a REAL LIVE ARMY HELICOPTER land on the lawn. The gust was so strong, it snapped the flag pole! They and I got a tour of it. Yes, I was there with the Kathryn Kamp group. Kathryn Kamp though not a official camp, still rocks. It is run by Kathryn who watches kids of the staff who are to young to come to the camps. I was a junior counselor.  The camps were aweome, and went smoothly except 4 girls were sent home for the first time ever. 4 boys were sent home too.  2 girls became Christians as well. Many thanks to everyone who made these camps happen!

Why I like the books I read
Posted On 03/24/2008 17:57:21

I am an big reader. I will read pretty much anything, at anytime. When I'm not reading, I'm making up stories in my head. They don't usually end up on paper though! Here, I'm going to list three books or book series and why I like them-

1. Warriors

Warriors is a saga about feral cats. They are grouped as Clans- Windclan, Shadowclan, Riverclan, and Thunderclan. I really enjoy these books. They face issues such as loyalty, courage, death, racialism, destruction of the environment, and hard friendships. All though some would argue saying the books are to violent, I say that the violence in these books is actually not that bad. There is violence all around us anyway. The battles show a cats real nature. If the books were about cats who just sat around in the sun and ate freshkill, ( fresh killed mouse, vole, thrush etc.) I wouldn't be reading them. The battle's provide moments that put the reader at the edge of his/her seat, and either giving a victorious battle cry at the end, or mourning over a lost life. They provide action and suspense for a enjoyable read. My favorite thing about these books, is the cycle. Cats are born and cats die. No one character lives forever. Even the greatest heros are killed off eventually. When a beloved cat dies, all seems to go in a whirl. You have seen this cat being made an apprentice, being made a warrior, fighting battles, and now this cat is gone. Soon, a new cat takes his/her place, and the adventure continues, but the old one is never forgotten. I really like these books, they make think about how one part of the story relates to my life. Besides, I'm a cat person!

2. My Side of the Mountain

This book is older than Warriors, but is still really good! It is about a boy who runs away from home to live in the Catskill mountains. He lives off the land, eating all sorts of plants and animals to survive. He learns how to hunt with a falcon, fish for turtles, and even take deer that hunters miss. He makes friends with a weasel, a coon, and a few wandering and lost humans who stumble upon his home in a old tree. I am a nature person and love to take walks by the lake or in the woods with my cats, ( I said I'm a cat person!  ) so this book really appeals to me. I especially like the fact that the boy lives there because he doesn't like to be dependable on electricity, plumbing, supermarkets, or any of that. I'm that way too. Nature won't just walk up to you and offer you food, shelter, or water. He had to work to find that. And he constantly works to make sure he is warm, and full-fed. In the end, he has to accept the change that comes to his forest, even though he doesn't like it at all. That's another theme of the book. Change, and how to deal with it. I, personally, don't like change. This book showed how to handle it a bit. That's helpful.

3. The Bible

Well of course!!! The Bible is my guidebook to life. It has ways to deal with all the above mentioned things, and so much more! It is God's holy living word bound up and under my pillow. It makes me woozy just thinking about it!  Or is that from rolling down the hill...

From Gen to Rev,  (sorry, I can't spell them.) it is packed full of commandments on how to live your life. Every letter, and word, and verse, and chapter, and book, pant pant, is from God. It is His gift to us! It is our field guide, our map, our instructions, for living out our life as Christians. No matter how many great authors there are in the world, ( Erin Hunter, C.S. Lewis, John Piper etc.) God is the best, and the Bible is the best, and that is the end of it.

Happy late Easter!

Awe
Posted On 01/20/2008 17:17:17
God you make the bright of day, God you take the night away. God I don't know what to say. As I stand in awesome awe, I can't believe what I just saw. A Lamb on a cross, holding MY sin, and rising from a tomb, to Heaven again.
