Gardening in the Kingdom of God
Wanted to share the story below:
I planted the seed, Apollo's watered, but God made it grow.
(1 Corinthians 3:6 NIV)
Today I read the Word, prayed, sought God for answers, but the
Heavens were brass. When I am in pain, and not seeing much hope of
Things changing, I often don't see much point to the whole process.
Later in the day while talking to my parents, my dad again told me
The story of a little town not from from where I grew up. It is
Noted for all its beautiful trees. Dad, an avid trees planter
Himself, recalled asking the man who was responsible just how he was
Able to grow so many trees to maturity. He gruffly replied "First
You gotta plant em!"
You might say, "well duh?" But the more I thought about it the more
The Lord reminded me that that Is exactly what I do every time I read
The Word, pray or seek God. I am planting seeds. I remember when I
Used to grow a large garden, I bought all kinds of seeds and
Diligently planted each and every one of them. I did not go out
Every day and dig them up to see if they were growing, I just left
Them alone and in due time they produced a great harvest.
What is amazing is that I have more faith in the garden seeds
Germinating and producing a crop than I do in the time I spend with
God. According to this verse all I need to do is plant. God will
Send someone to water and He will ultimately cause the growth.
So the next time I am sitting in my recliner with the heating pad on
High, thinking of all the things I "should" be doing but can't, I
Will remind myself of the man who took the time with all the trees.
Even though I may not see the harvest right away I will trust God
With my seed. So from now on if anyone should ask what I have been
Doing I will smile, point to my Bible and say "Gardening in the
Kingdom of God."
