Jeremiah 1-2 & Colossians 3 COMPASSION OF CHRIST
As God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 3:12).
Have you ever done anything contrary to God's will? Everyone has! The Bible tells us that no human is perfect; each one has dishonored God in words, actions, and thoughts. It also tells us that Jesus died for us even though we were sinners (Romans 5:8). His love for us is beyond doubt.
When Jesus was on earth, He showed His love for the "unlovable:" sinners, criminals, prostitutes, and a host of others who were shunned by their contemporaries. His love for these people did not mean that Jesus approved of their actions; it meant He loved them in spite of their actions.
Today, Christians demonstrate the love of Christ by compassionate treatment of others, including those who do not know the Lord. Christians don't have to approve of unbelievers' lifestyles, appearances, or beliefs, but we can show them that we have Christ-like love for them. Perhaps in doing so we can win them to Christ.
Challenge for Today: Follow the guidelines from Colossians 3:12 to show Christ's love to everyone.
Daily Prayer Emphasis: The peace of Jerusalem and God's plan to come to pass.
