"ABIDING IN THE VINE"
Posted On: 12/01/2006 17:19:06

PSALM 15:1-5 ~ Lord, whoall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? (2) He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.      (3) he that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor. (4) In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoreth them that fear the Lord.  He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. (5) he that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent.  He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

~ Abide means to assemble, dwell, remain and to gather.  Not everyone will be able to abide in God's Tabernacle.  We must kill our flesh daily in order to abide.  If we obey these 10 steps found in Ps. 15:1-5 we will be able to have a peace of mind when it comes to abiding.  (1)Walk upright, (2) Work righteousness, (3) Speak the truth, (4) do not backbite, (5) do no evil, (6) dont disgrace neighbor, (7) Swear to own hurt, (8) change not, (9) put not money to usury, (10) do not bribe the innocent.  If we obey then we shall not be moved!

PSALM 91:1 ~ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

~ God will protect those who trust in Him.  The secret place is God's protection for the saints.  If we stay in His presence He will protect us from all hurt, harm and danger.  Although trials must come, God will shield and protect us from damnation (heart, mind & soul) for He will put no more on us than we can bear.  It's a blessing to abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  I couldnt have a better covering and a safer shelter than God himself.

JOHN 15:4-5 ~ Abide in me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

~We can do nothing, whether big or small unless we're abiding in the vine and that vine is Jesus Christ.  We are the branches and unless we are still remaining on the branches we will otherwise wither and die.  We must abide in the vine from every aspect of our lives if we want to bring forth fruit.  An unfruitful tree is only good to be cut down and used for fire wood.  In order for the branches to stay nourished and not dry out they must be connected to the vine.

JOHN 15:7 ~ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

~ Accept we abide in or stay close to Jesus we will be unfruitful in all of our ways and efforts, our work will be in vain.  If things are not going right check to see if you have detached yourself from the vine, if so get reattached, because Jesus is the vine and he is our source of power, He's our nourishment.  Once w abide in Him, then He will abide in us and we can ask what we please and it SHALL be done unto us.  Why?  Because if Jesus is abiding in us He cannot and will not deny Himself of anything, for everything is His.

Be blessed in the Lord, Lady Sutton
