If your faith is not growing you're probably not going.
We hear from the Lord not because we are worthy, but because we are willing.
There's a book in the bible called "ACTS" It is full of the stories of the actions of the Apostles, of those who choose to follow Jesus Christ. The gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are the accounts of the works and life of Jesus as he walked in humble obedience to his father in heaven. But the book of Acts starts at the time when Jesus ascends into heaven and he sends his Holy Spirit to live with in all those who believe.
Some of the headlines in the book of acts read something like this:
"Peter preaches" "Peter heals" "Peter and John face the Sanhedrin" "The believers pray for boldness" "The believers share their possessions" "The apostles meet furious opposition"
"Steven is arrested" " An angel rescues Peter" " Paul curses a sorcerer" " The counsel sends letters" "Paul has a vision" "Paul tells about the unknown God" …… the list goes on and on with more words that show action, ….. Peter speaks, Paul arrives, Paul continues, Paul witnesses, Apollos is instructed, Timothy joins Paul, Lydia is converted.
These are just a few examples of what was going on in the lives of these few believers.
But what about you? What is going on in your life as a believer? What action does your faith drive you to commit? If your faith is not growing you're probably not going. Faith is what fuels your run. It is the faith of the believer that causes them to speak out, go out, and stand out or to help out. That's why we hear the term "stepping out in faith". Faith is an action word and if your life has no actions of faith then you're not running the race that God has set before you.
We have received the same Holy Spirit that they received in their day. Our lives as followers of Christ are no different then theirs. We were all given the great commission to go out and tell all people about the love of Christ, to go to the ends of the earth and preach the good news.
The good news???? Yes…. The good news is that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. He died for the sins of all mankind and only he can bring you to the redemptive gates of heaven where he is waiting for you with open arms.
If we are not living examples of the love of Christ then who will be? Surly not the non believeing world for they are blind to the love of their creator. It is we… the children of God who are saved through our faith in Christ and filled with his Holy Spirit.
Every morning when you wake up you should say to God almighty in heaven, "Here I am Lord, Send me".
What are your acts? What are you doing for the cause of Christ? Your faith should lead you in to action, for the word of God says that faith without works is dead. For how can you say you have faith and yet live as though you don't? True faith in Christ will cause you to grow hungry for his words and his ideas. And those words and ideas will cause you to run and not grow weary. Your active faith in the love of Christ will rise up and empower you to run the race that he has set before you and when you finish that race you will hear the most wonderful words any child of God can possibly hear, …. "Well done, my good and faithful servant".
