The right hand side of the duplex wasn't supposed to be checked out when my in-laws were gone. They went on their RV trip to Yuma a few weeks ago, and as they own and maintain several duplexes in Snohomish County here in Washington, they needed my wife, brother-in-law and I to work with prospective renters, and if all goes well, to check them in. They added that 'it probably won't happen while we're gone.' Sure enough, I call my wife from work a few days later and she is headed south to the duplex (we live about 30 miles away), to show it. After 2 weeks of repeated returns to the duplex, normal background paperwork, checking out the old renter, additional cleaning, replacing smoke detectors, lights, locks, and an oven that turns on without anybody touching it, we have completed the process of establishing new renters. I am so proud of my wife, she always puts such effort into every assignment she is given.
Even though things 'aren't supposed to happen' in life, they do. We all have the choice of how we are going to respond to them. To do service for others with a joyful and positive attitude, is to do service for God. Worship is every day, not just during hours inside a church building. When we worship God in the every day events, by living our lives based on the model of Jesus Christ, God gets optimal glory.
