Keep Me From Lying
Posted On 02/14/2008 18:59:33

While completing an assignment for my Communications Studies I ran into averse that jumped out at me..

Psalm 119:29 Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.

How often do we talk to ourself? Trying to convince ourself that what ever we are thinking, doing or saying is right. In some cases we are TRYING to convince ourself that a certain action and/or attitude is justified; these are the times we are lying to ourself and we are lying to God.  Knowing His instruction is the means to keep us from lying to ourself.

The next time you realize you are in this deli ma, stop and seek God. Ask your self if this is what God wants you do...

Moments of Greatness
Posted On 02/09/2007 18:44:43

Shared by Mark Brewer from Dallas, Texas shared at the Fire Power Youth Retreat.

(given over two nights)

Think of something great you want to accomplish with your life.

What are the biggest obstacles keeping you?

My biggest obstacles are: Determination and Laziness…

Esther 4:4-17

Seldom are they reserved for the most powerful, most popular or most intelligent…

Six things to know on moments of greatness

  1. may come when least expected
  2. may not be recognized by many people
  3. may be scary
  4. it will influence your behavior
  5. it will impact those around you
  6. if you step into your moment of greatness it will altar your future

Moments of Disaster

These you will not be able to get back… to fix…

-- moments are increments of time—when one ends another begins….

-- more people hang onto the past, less likely they will grab onto the future

encouraged us to let go of the past, those things which hold you back from grabbing the future…

Gen 39:6-16

Steps to take between moments of greatness

  1. Heart: want to obey God at all cost: Luke 22:42-43
  2. Offer your body as a living sacrifice: Romans 12:1-2
  3. Remember all that God has done up to this point: Gen 45
  4. Kill pride by serving: Gen 45;  Joshua never let his position cause him to have a big head, ego

Prepare for the moments of greatness

  1. Spiritual growth
  2. Mental growth; Col3:23
  3. Emotional growth (get the drama out of the church)

If your going to grow your going to have to build… anytime you have attempted to build something in your life there is always something/someone out there who wants to tear it down..

Opposition comes from:

1.      Physical issues

2.      People issues (they may have torn us down)

3.      Personal issues (rubble left behind)

When something gets broken/demolition there’s rubble left behind.  Dealing with rubble is usually the hardest thing…  You can’t remove the rubble by yourself (with out God’s help)... however He isn’t going to remove it without you getting involved… you must ‘give’ it to God… He will not take it with out you handing it to Him…

Matthew 11:28-30:  Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

This verse will encourage you to give your ‘rubble’ to God, so that there will be room for what God has for you…

We built an altar with stones signafying the start of getting rid of our rubble.....

Change
Posted On 01/27/2007 16:15:34
It's time to update...
I have taken a job with Phoenix Consulting (www.intellpros.com)...
SBI Technologies was great... being my first company, I can't complain... they took care of me and opened the door for me to work as an instructor/trainer..
Phoenix Consulting provides analyst and trainers (as a whole lot more) to the government agencies...  I'm looking forward to the new challenges that will be put before me..
I start on 5 Feb... so this next week is a vacation... can't complain there... taking care of the car, do school work, spend time with friends and be part of a youth retreat...

Yes, Finally an Update
Posted On 01/05/2007 14:30:51

Ok... you've waited long enough... just didin't have the desire to post anything...  but I do now...

As of this morning I have accepted a new job... start in Feb... instructor/trainer plus analytical work... I'm very happy... biggest PLUS is the commute... it's not shorter... it's got more possibilities to travel to and fro... I like that...

My current job/company opened up plenty of opportunities to learn... in a training envirnment... while I taught others... can't beat that... it's been a blessing...

when you wait on God to guide your steps there is such a release of peace... and that's what I'm expereincing right now..  PRAISE GOD...

Enjoy the weekend...

It's Been a WHILE
Posted On 12/09/2006 07:14:32

It has been a while since I've put anything up here....

somethings have happen.. good things...

Attended an ASTD Design Learning Certificate Program.. was REALLY Good.... was ONLY three Metro (train) stops from the house (I'm a 1/2 mile from a Metro station).. normal hours... not 5am at work

This sprung a STRONG desire to REALLY want to be working in Virginia and not at Bolling AFB.. only TWO ways to get there by car -- bridges which are UGLY during rush hour and those who just can't behave on the interestate over here drive me NUTS, I get caught up in the craziness and I don't like it...  I'd rather drive around Chicago there here (D.C.)..  they behave...

anyway...

I've let my company know of my desires... not too sure what they have available... or how long it would take them... I have told them I am activitly looking for a job... my manager is supportive... not trying to convince me "it will be OK" or "just hang in there and wait to see what we have"

SO the search is on and I'm soo wanting to ensure the job I do take is in accordiance with what God is pleased with...

Stay Warm and Love God

What R U Thankful For?
Posted On 11/24/2006 09:59:21

Now that we have spent time with family or friends eating lots of food...

and maybe you didn't stop to think... "What am I thankful for?"

Maybe now is the time...

I'm thankful for:
a home,
family members,
Sheeba (our crazy cat),
food on the table (too many people in AMERICA go without),
the ability to work at what I want to do (some people are handicapped and are kept from jobs they really want to do),
The Bible (and the ability to read it openly; don't have to hide, like other countries around  the world),
for all those MILITARY members who are in Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations in harms way; who are doing GOOD even though you only hear the negative side of things
the God given talents I have and the ability/opportunity to use them
a HUSBAND who (un-be-know to him) is helping me to develop a stronger relationship with God, Christ and the Holy Spirit..

Ok now it's your turn....

Wilderness
Posted On 10/24/2006 19:12:40
Have you ever been lost in the wilderness… wondering around, not sure where you are and unsure how you got there… I actually have.. times I’ve been by myself while other times I’ve been with a group (secret.. the leader knew where we were.. he drove)….

Anyway… this also applies to our spiritual life… Our Pastor has been talking about the Wilderness…using the Book of Numbers as his “Guide”…

We need to stay out of the wilderness… and that includes me… I wrote earlier today… “I need to stay out of the wilderness or should I say I need to keep my stay/occupations in the wilderness as short as possible. Don’t make it a habit of dwelling in the wilderness.”

To Me:
Wilderness = being overcome by temptation…
-- allowing thoughts of the devil to fill my mind and not have my mind filled with God’s Word/Song..
-- Not changing my focus
-- removing my focus from thoughts/ideas which are against God’s teaching

Ways which lead out of the wilderness
-- Speaking positive and not negative
-- Repeating God’s Word over and over
-- Get away from disbelieve.
-- Get active in removing myself out of the wilderness/fight your way out… get out of the chair…

FOCUS, FOCUS…. On GOD!!!

When you’re tempted to be negative you need to remember, you can’t stand against God, He will knock you over, and bring you to your knees….

Even the best believers struggle with being caught in the wilderness… so don’t take it personnel when you do… remember others get lost in the wilderness.. 1Peter 5:9

My Earthly Father--UPDATE
Posted On 09/29/2006 08:56:56
Dad caem through surgry well.. galbladder is gone and couple of other things as well... stayed over night and should be home today (Saturday)... talked with him last night.. sounded a be hoarse but other wise very upbeat... PRAISE GOD... My father is having surgury this morning... galbladder.. suppose to be the less evasive version but could become intense... they are doing the orthoscopic version (little holes) and not the (what I call) the zipper affect... I can't be there but he know's I'm praying for him... I'm working from home, didn't feel I wanted to be around others this morning... Post an update as soon as I find out.. Phil 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

WHY??
Posted On 09/24/2006 19:00:16
Why is it some teenagers feel they rule the universe?? NO ONE can tell them (or even encourage) them to do what's right... Why is it that parents DON'T get involved in their teenager's life, but allows them to run freely with little (to no) supervision?? Don't they (the parents) realise they are placing a sort of "death wish" on their teenager; seeting them up for failure?? Why is when you (ordinary adult) tries to show concern/care to a teenager that you get the "evil eye?" They feel you are invading their space, when in reality you aren't.
