LARRY'S LOVE Every time I think about what my life testimony would be, I realize how other people and experiences made me who I am today . I would like to share the story of Larry's Love and what it means to me. When I first met my older cousin, Larry who was more like an uncle, it was in Fl in the 1980's. I was a young girl and had never been around anyone who drank. I think Larry was the first person that I had ever seen intoxicated and being a minister's daughter, I did not know quite what to make of it. The worst thing I remember doing at that age was tasting some beer that my sister secretly had obtained to put in our hair to make it curly. Well, there was also the time I got my sis in trouble for singing a certain Madonna song around my father, but this was the innocence I grew up with. I never really did anything bad and didn't know what to make of people who truly had problems. However, Larry was more than someone who drank he had the most beautiful blue eyes and his fun loving ways were unforgettable. He would grab us girls and give us the biggest bear hug you could imagine. I would lose my breath and he would laugh at my bewilderment. He would never harm me, it was just his way of loving me. Of course, I went right back for more and I was ready to go fishing with him at any time. It was hard for some people to look past the symptom of his drinking to see the real Larry. The real Larry did later try to put an end to the sufferings he was putting in the bottle as he did start giving it to the Lord. I will never forget on our front porch hearing him sing gospel hymns over and over. It was awful, because he could not sing worth a darn and I wondered why he wouldn't stop. I remember everyone thanking God he was outside making a joyful noise to the Lord. In fact, that was exactly what he was doing, doing it to the Lord, but I was unable to see that at the time. I just thought of him as ole Larry that couldn't hold a tune. Then one Sunday, we met with the family at a church around Daytona. Larry had brought his sing along tapes and went up to sing. I thought, why is he doing this? As he preceded the most beautiful voice came out of him. I couldn't get over how he could sing and how much trouble he went through to learn how. I was in amazement at how he had trained his voice. I thought he might be thinking of starting a new career. My teenage mind thought, "If Vern Gosdin could do it, maybe Larry." I just still could not comprehend Larry's love for the Lord. Later years, I married and moved to TN not far from where Larry was then residing in North GA. I had much need to talk to Larry about something, as my aunt had asked me to personally see about him. When I called, he was as chipper as he could be and so proud to be doing well as he had worked hard to get his life right. He was running a business and he was married to a beautiful lady whom he adored. There was no way I could discuss the situation with him over the phone. So, I thought I would try to see him in person about the matter. The day never came for me to talk to him, instead news came that he was at a local hospital. I was the first of his family to arrive, I didn't know how bad off he really was. I went back through a trauma center passing by a man being rolled in while attendants were working on him. The man was already grey and the nurse and I bowed our heads as they went by. What I found ahead was just as bad for Larry. His frail body laid under the sheets and his appearance was far from being kept. It looked like he had worked himself into the ground. There were bruises on his head where they said he had fell. The doctor described that Larry had suffered a brain aneurism and later said that he was already gone. The family gathered around his bed side in ICU and I was at his feet, tears came from his closed eyes as we prayed. How that could happen with the condition the doctors said he was in, I don't know, but tears did come. I struggled with many thoughts concerning Larry's life and his circumstances at the end. I so much wanted to have talked to him, but I think God knew what was best for Larry. He fought a good fight and is in a much better place as he did all he could to make peace in his life. For his funeral the family decided to play his songs he had recorded. The thought of it upset me very much. I prayed, "Please God, don't let me hear his songs"! Because this time his song was too beautiful to endure for sure. I have shared the story of Larry's love because it means more than one thing to me personally. In that sometimes, struggles are something we die daily to and it is the willingness to change that God honors. During Larry's funeral, I was indeed unable to hear Larry's songs. I pray God gives me the strength to live life fully through Him, taking the bitter with the sweet and may I never give up trying. Most of all, may I never go deaf to hear the real music in one's soul. Isa 64:6 &nb sp; 1Cr 15:31 &nb sp; Rev 3:18
Soul Mate ? Soul mate - a term often heard. Do we really know what it means? There must be some meaning to it, after all everyone is looking for it. It seems to represent the someone who knows your every need, identifies with your every thought, longing and desire. Someone you become one with - Like there is a big empty lonely room in ones heart waiting to be filled. I have even heard that it is the other half of oneself. Could it be that another person of the opposite sex is the other half of oneself? What could be this most mysterious kind of love that everyone hopes for? Let us think about who we truly are inside ( Gal 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus"). So, we are neither male or female neither are we given in marriage in heaven (Mar 12:25 "For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven").The point I am making is that we have a spirit that is not completed by another human spirit. That being said natural instincts mirror things in the Spirit, it is God's way of revealing His mysteries to us. It is only in God that we are made whole and restored as we are created in God's image (Gen 5:2 "Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.") Notice that both male and female are called Adam. The first Adam portrayed the fall of man and the second Adam brings the redemption. I hope I didn't lose anyone here as I am going further to bring out the needs of the soul. There is a void deep within our soul that needs to be filled - A part of us reaching out for unconditional love and safety. The part of us that seeks out to be saved, this is the soul of man. As a woman longs for her Saviour in a classical love story as she faces the firey dragon, so is the soul of man. The woman - the soul part of man. Rev 12:17 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ". As an indiviual we have a soul that needs to be saved and also as the members of the body of Christ we are His bride and He is our Saviour. That is the potaryal throughout the scriptures starting from Genesis to Revelations. You may be thinking that Adam and Eve was a story about the first humans that God created, but it is more than that. When we begin to realize that Christ was the second Adam, we begin to understand a great mystery. Remember in both male and female were called Adam made after God's likeness. Gen 1:27 God created Adam (male & female) in one man -spiritually speaking, "in the beginning, (Jesus said) "the twain were one flesh". Speaking of the man and his wife, Jesus said, "in the beginning the twain" (which means two) "were one flesh" (see Mt. 19:4-6 KJV Rom 5:14 "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come." Adam represents the head, our spirit, and our mind. Eve represents the body, our soul, and our emotions. God told Adam, not to eat of the fruit from the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. God did not tell Eve, for she was not yet created when God told Adam. Adam told Eve, for Eve knew about it. Adam telling Eve is a picture of God speaking to our soul (Eve), through our spirit (Adam), God speaks through our mind, our spirit, that is quickened and alive to God, and wants our soul to listen, and be in subjection to our mind, and both to the Word of God ( 1Cr 15:45 "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [was made] a quickening spirit.") So as the Eve part of Adam, the soul should be in subjection to the redeemed man, the new Adam nature through Christ Phl 2:5 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" Take a look at the Scripture describing a great battle, note the word enmity means war ( Rom 8:7 "Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.") Eph 2:15 "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;"I want to bring something foremost to attention if this sounds different from what you are used to hearing, we need to realize that battle of Heaven and Hell is within man. Luk 17:21 "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." Heaven or Hell is not just a place we are just going to but a battle we fight to obtain that exists in each person that is why there is a need for the soul to be saved. Here is what God said to the serpet Gen 3:15 "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." Again we see the word enmity, the warring between the seed. It has been misinterepeted that actual physical women carry the seed of Satan but that is simply not the case this is something Spiritual and not physical, again as individuals we are neither male or female in Christ. As we see in the beginning, Genesis, that the war starts between the seed of the woman ( soul part of man ) and the seed of the serpet, we also so see it in Revelation Rev 12:17 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ." What could be this seed? Have you ever heard of your faith making you whole - whole means you weren't complete until faith. Let me remind you that faith is compared to seed: Mat 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Faith is also described as a creating substance Hbr 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." If we carry the seed of faith, the creating substance from our true husband, Christ, we keep out the avenger that wars with our faith Jhn 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly." We war in order to keep the faith and be saved, Eph 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]". 2Ti 2:4 "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of [this] life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier". We are fighting the sin that dwells in all of us since the fall of man as we partake both of what is good and evil under the old law and now we must move forward to bring ourselves under grace by the tree of life .Rev 22:14 "Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city".
But how are we saved and born into the Kingdom of God? Of course we must be repentive and ready to change, Repent means to change . Jhn 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God". Notice the word born? There has to be a woman ( again soul needing a mate ) in order for a birth to take place and hence the seed.Studing upon Apostle Paul's writing concerning women in 1 Timothy Chapter 2, We see that the woman is to be shamed faced and unadorned, of a repentive nature and under subjection to the man in silence. Reading further down we see 1TIMOTHY 2:15; "Notwithstanding, she shall be saved in (Gk. dia;a channel, through) childbearing, (Gk. teknogonia; to produce a child) if they continue (Gk. meno; to remain, abide) in faith and love and holiness with sobriety." If we were to put literal natural interpetation to all the scriptures, we would not understand the mysteries of the gospel. So, Let us move forward to a better understaning (2PE 1:20) "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation." So so seeing in 1TIMOTHY 2:15 the woman ( soul ) needs to bring forth a child in order to be saved. Therefore we must bring forth the man child or inner man in order to be born again. This has to do with being crucified and the spiritual circumcision to reveal the inner man. 1Cr 7:19 "circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God." Gal 6:15 "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature." Eph 2:15 "Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace;" One of the most wonderful mysteries being revealed is the birthing into God's Kingdom as we become a new man in Him. That is how Christ becomes the son of man as he is our true husband and we become one with Him and we are birthed into the Kingdom of God. Luk 17:30 "Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed". Jhn 17:21 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. " Rev 12:13 "And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child]." Rev 12:9 "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." Rev 20:10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
