salvation
Posted On 02/24/2008 04:34:03

I am penticostal and am still learning a lot. I have a question and am hoping someone can help me. I have a friend who is baptist. She told me that the reason she is baptist is because they believe "once saved always saved." She told me that she believes that you cannot lose your salvation.

That made me think. I believe that our walk with God should be renewed daily. If once saved always saved was true. (not saying that it's not) Then couldn't we ask God into our lives and then live how we please. If after, I commit murder, would I still make it into heaven?

God chose Moses to lead his people into the promise land. He talked to God and saw him face to face. But he disobeyed God when he struck the rock and didn't make it into the promise land. I do believe that he made it to heaven. But he missed out on the blessing of the promise land. I think that it is very easy to seperate ourself from Gods blessing.

Judas Got to walk with Jesus. Learn first hand of his teaching. Saw miracles with his own eyes. In the end he betrayed Jesus and gave him up to the romans for silver. He then hung himself. Suicide is a hard sin because you can't ask for forgiveness. It's too late. But according to once saved always save, you cannot lose your salvation, Judas would of made it into heaven.

In Matthew 7:22-23

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity
KJV

How does that verse fall under the once saved always save, you cannot lose your salvation. Wouldn't you have to have salvation to do works in Gods name? Then why would Jesus tell them to depart? Why would Jesus worn us? Did they lose thier salvation?

I don't know much about the baptist faith. I'm not saying that baptist are wrong or they are not going to heaven. I just want to see what others believe, and if I'm wrong, someone to set me staight. Please don't think that I am judging or take it to offence. I just want to find an awnser.  Scripture is always the best way, but not sure where to look.  Someone help.

I tried to blog about this earlier but for some reason it didn't go threw.  So here goes again.  I saw an interview on 60 min about joel olsteens ministry.  It really bothered me.  I use to watch him all the time as a new christian.  He is a very motivational speaker.  The only problem that I found was all his messages were ways to become a better person, not a better christian or how to draw closer to christ.  In the interview they asked him, "how come he doesn't mention God in his book?"  As a pastor and a christian it is important that we talk about the sacrafices Jesus made for us.  A lot of the preachers today are starting to become life coaches and motivational speakers.  Isn't that what dr. phill is for.  We have to seperate our message of hope with the truth.  Jesus is the way truth and the light.  Just because  you are a good person doesn't mean you will make it into heaven.  God choice Moses to lead his people in the promise land.  He walked and talk to God personally.  40 years he was in the desert and because of disobedience he did not go into the promise land.  I know he made it into heaven.  But if a man that got to see God with his own eyes can make such a big mistake, shouldn't we be twice as careful.  Shouldn't we learn from his mistakes.

The morom church teaches about family vaules, as do most religions.  If we claim to be christians would Christ always be first.  What would we be without Jesus.  He was the one who died on the cross for our sins.  He is the reason we don't have to make sacrafices anymore because He paid the greatest price.

I really would like to have a disscusion about where most of the preachers are going with their messages.  If you get the chance go to www.60minutes.com and in the search engine type in joel olsteen and watch the video.  It is about 11 minutes and then see if it changes your point of view.  Would really like to disscuss it.

After watching this video I was really bother.  I used to watch olsteen all the time.  I resently stopped due to conviction.  I never felt convicted by what he was teaching.  He is a very good speaker.  I have felt motivated by what he has said.  Right now alot of television preachers are becoming life coaches or motivational speakers.  They are using their God given talents for personal gain.  What happen to the people like Billy Graham?  People who dedicated their lives to changing the world with the message of Jesus.  I feel a lot of what is going on today is, people just want to be told how to be good people.  Good people don't make it to heaven.  People who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and peersonal savior do. To help someone change their lives is a talent.  To lead someone to the Lord is a blessing.  when you go to heaven, and you are standing in front of the Father, are you going to stand and say "Lord I have helped people become better in life", or do  you want to say "Lord I lead people to you, that has changed their lives."

I hope that people read this and it becomes a good disscusion.  If you can spear 11 min. please watch the video.  Lets break this down and come to an understanding.

hope

"Tomorrow morning," the surgeon began, "I'll open up your heart..."

"You'll find Jesus there," the boy interrupted.

The surgeon looked up, annoyed "I'll cut your heart open," he continued, to see how much damage has been done..."

"But when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there," said the boy.

The surgeon looked to the parents, who Sat quietly. "When I see how much damage has been done, I'll sew your heart and chest back up, and I'll plan what to do next."

"But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."

The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart. I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I'll find out if I can make you well."

"You'll find Jesus there too. He lives there."

The surgeon left.

The surgeon sat in his office, recording his notes from the surgery, "...damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread muscle de generation. No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy: painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis:, " here he paused, "death within one year."

He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked aloud. "Why did You do this? You've put him here; You've put him in this pain; and You've cursed him to an early death. Why?"

The Lord answered and said, "The boy, My lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be. Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you cannot imagine. His parents will one day join him here, and they will know peace, and My flock will continue to grow."

The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created that boy, and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months. Why?"

The Lord answered, "The boy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for He has Done his duty: I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost lamb."

The surgeon wept.. The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him. The boy awoke and whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"

"Yes," said the surgeon.

"What did you find?" asked the boy.

"I found Jesus there," said the surgeon.

God always has a reason for everything he does. We, as christians, are commanded to spread the word of Jesus. Some people were meant to help thousands.(Billy Graham) Other to help just one. In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable of talents. Lets not be like the servant who hid his talent until his masters return. Lets double our talents, by sharing the message of hope.

On my page you can see a blog called just a joke. I didn't write the jokes. I'm just spreading them for anyone who needs a smile. I'm trying to double my talents.

just a joke

A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says,"I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams. We can't stand the sight of each other any longer," the father says. "We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her."

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. "Like heck they're getting divorced," she shouts, "I'll take care of this,"

She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father, "You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. "Okay," he says, "they're coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way. What are we going to do for Christmas?"

prayer
Posted On 08/23/2006 01:00:21
I come to my brothers and sisters in faith, to ask for prayer. Right now the devil is on a warpath. He is using my ex-girlfriend to come against me. After a 10 year relationship, she informed me that she has decided to be in a lesbian relationship. Yes it is a big slap in the face to me, but we have children who are involved. I have custody of our two children. She has visitation. I know that according to the law I have no right to tell her what she can and cannot do, when she visits with the kids. She only sees them every first, third and fith weekend of the month. I asked her kindly if she would just keep my kids away from that lifestyle. Its only 6 days a month that she would be away from that. She told me that she would. Now her relationship has turned to love (thats what she told me) and she wanted to spend time with her kids and her lover. So she told her kids to lie to me about what they do on the weekend and where they are. She told them that if I found out the truth I will take them away from her forever. My kids are only 4 and 6 so they are very impressionable. Please pray for my kids, they don't know whats really going on. Ask God to give me the strength to deal with this issue. She is not a very trust worthy person. I truely don't want my kids to be around that sinnful nature. I realize that they will grow up and have to deal with this issue, but I don't think that they should have to do it at such an early age. Pray for us pleasse.

my testimony

I will share my story, to get others to share theirs. God is Good. I was a low life drug dealer, who wanted out but could just walk away. I always knew that there was something bigger for me in life, but didn't know how or where to start. My life was in bad shape. I had everything that people want out of life, but I had no peace. One day I was riding my motorcycle down the highway. The police estimated my speed from 70 to 80 mph. A car got in my path and I lost control of the bike. Three days later I was told that I pulled the nerves out of my neck paralyizing my right arm. I was greatful I was s still alive. The ambulance thought I was dead. I started going to church knowing that only God could of spared my life, but I wasn't ready to submite my life to Christ. One sunday I was in church. Not looking to find God. A pastor came from out of town, he was going to preach that sunday. When he started preaching I started to tremble. I knew that this message was to me and for me. I felt like I was sitting there alone. I remember sitting there saying "God If you are talking to me show me." As I finished the statement the pastor started talking about a drug dealer from his town. He said that even though people see him as a drug dealer, God sees him for his use. Gods plan for him is greater than his plan is for himself. I broke down in tears. I knew that God saved my life for a reason. Now I needed to accept him in my life. I asked God to forgive me for everything that I have done. To come into my life and guide me where he wants me to be. Its was like a ton of bricks were taken off my back. I didn't have to let my past haunt me anymore. I wasn't the low life drug dealer anymore. Now I am a child of the almighty. It didn't matter what I had been threw. Its about where I am going. I lost my life as I had known it. My girlfriend of ten years started pushing me away. Everything I had I lost. My house, my car, my girlfriend was gone. It was hard to walk away. I went back to the house that me and my girlfriend shared and she told me that I had to leave because she wasn't aloone. It hurt so bad. I got on my knees and cried. (not in front of her) I asked God why i lost everything. he told me that I wasn't going to get my life back. The old life was gone. He told me that he will give me a new life. God is so much greater than we can even believe. The only thing that stops us from his blessings is US. Once we make that choice, to put your life in the hands of the almighty. He will take you to places you have never been. there is a peace that words cannot explain, the future outways the past. God has been good to me. If anyone feels a need to talk. or just wants to be heard feel free to stop by. always, Montanez
