A Woman's Worth
Posted On 07/20/2006 15:08:29
In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the question, "What kind of man are you looking for?" She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye, then asked, "Do you really want to know?" Reluctantly, he said "Yes." She began to expound: "As a woman in this day and age, I am in a position to ask a man what he can do for me that I can't do for myself. I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man...or woman for that matter. I am in the position to ask, what can you bring to the table?" The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money. She quickly corrected his thought and stated, "I am not referring to money. I need something more. I need a man who is striving for perfection in every aspect of life. " He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, and asked her to explain. She said ... "I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection mentally because I need conversation and mental stimulation. I don't need a simple-minded man. I am looking for someone who is striving for perfection spiritually because I don't need to be unequally yoked... believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster. I need a man who is striving for perfection financially because I don't need a financial burden. I am looking for someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded. I am looking for someone who I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him. I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business. I have no problem being submissive...he just has to be WORTHY. God made woman to be a helpmate for a man. I can't help a man if he can't help himself." When she finished her spiel, she looked at him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face. He said,"You are asking a lot." She replied: "I'm worth a lot." p.s I didnt write this but I agree with it totally....

Get Off Of Yourself
Posted On 07/20/2006 15:07:18
When was the last time you did something for someone else? When was the last time you allowed someone to tell you about themselves instead of you talking about yourself? When was the last time you did something to bless someone else's life that caused you to sacrifice something of yours?(i.e. time, money, food, clothes, gas) When we focus too much on ourselves, we miss out on the joy that comes from knowing that you have blessed someone else. We need to love others more than ourselves. The world does not revolve around you and your problems. Sometimes when you take your mind off of your problems and your needs and help somebody else with their's, God steps in solves your problems and blesses you just because you blessed someone else. It pleases God when we help our brothers and sisters out. Even if God never blesses you again, bless someone else. Stop complaining about everything you dont have and concentrate on what you do have and how you can use it to change lives and further the Kingdom of God.If you get too caught up in yourself then you wont have to room to get caught up in God and other important relationships in your life. You wil be asleep when the Lord comes back. We cannot allow ourselves to get so caught up in the pleasures of this world that we become lackadaisical in our service to God and fall into a slumber. You won't be ready if you're sleeping. God will return and you will be asleep. Wake Up! The Kingdom of God is near and the devil wants to get us sidetracked and focused on the less-important things in life so that we won't be ready and he can destroy us. Will you let him?

What are you thinking?

Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. - Romans 12:2 NLT It's not what we do occasionally that makes the difference; it's what we do daily. So each day, find a place where you can be alone with God. If you have to, drive to a quiet spot or go for a walk. You're worth it. And try to read each day's devotion twice. You'll be amazed at what you get the second time that you didn't see the first time. If something jumps off the page and speaks to you personally, underline it. It's your book; you can do what you like with it. When you're finished reading, take a few moments and pray about what you've read. Don't be "religious" - just talk to God like you would to a trusted friend. Don't try to handle all your character defects at once or you'll get overwhelmed and quit. Just deal with one thing at a time as God reveals it to you. Don't worry about whether you can or can't do it. The truth is, by yourself you can't! God ordained it that way so you'd learn to lean more on Him and less on yourself. That's why Paul wrote about his affliction, "Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time He said, 'My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me" (2 Co 12:8-9 NLT). Remember, we don't determine our future - our daily habits do!

Who is the finisher?
Posted On 05/26/2006 20:06:18
JESUS CHRIST, THE FINISHER! By Corey Buckner Friday, May 26, 2006 Scripture Reading: John 19: 28-39 In all of the Bible Satan has never had the right to claim completion on any project. Satan never once lifts his voice to say the phrase, "It is finished." This is Jesus' job. Even when Satan thought he had done something awesome by crucifying Christ, it was Jesus who, knowing that all was completed, raised His voice and said, "It is finished." This applies to your life today. Satan may be attacking you and situations may look bleak on your job, in your family, or even in your walk with Christ. But, know this today that the only one who can finish anything is your Lord and savior Jesus Christ. So keep on fighting, keep pressing in, and keep pushing back the Devil, because THE FINISHER is on your side.

Sometimes I Wish the Rapture would come NOW!

Have you ever just become fed up with the world and all of its struggles. You just felt like when you tried to reach the unsaved they just weren't interested, or completely blew you off. To the point where you were just sick and tired of being on this earth. You knew that in your mind you were ready if the Lord decided to come back and you actually would love it if He came at that instant. To rescue you from all the drama, sin, grief, pain, wars, that surround us each day. Well I was just thinking about that. I think a lot.
