Well I am going to submit this blog and those of you who wish to comment may do so and those of you who don't understand it are free to ask me questions. This morning my husband and I attended a church that our son and his wife and our daughter attend. We did so because for the first time in her life Mikes daughter asked him to and he wanted support her after a long history of drugs and jail time she is finally turning to GOD and we did want to support her. While there they had a visiting evangalist and although I have heard this particular sermon subject matter before I knew she had not. Now this is a small small church and they are trying to grow and the music was great. I need to add I guess this is a pentecostal church of which I have attended that type of church before. Here is where I get very dissappointed. The preacher today decided that the Lord lead him to preach on women dressing appropriately for the church. I am here to say that I have known many a poor soul that would not enter in to a church because of the way they HAD to dress. Not everyone has a decent job, fine clothes and all the finery that goes along with it. These kids and there were quite a few young adults with their little ones there, were in jeans, tshirts, there were tattos, earrings. But I am here to tell you all were clean, sitting at attention and full of the Love of GOD. I would hate to think that something I said or did would turn one of these precious kids from our father. I truly believe in our music ministry that the Lord has told us to go out and tell these souls that it is ok that they come as they can. Sure I know the Bible says to give him our best. And if our best is a pair of jeans and a tshirt then who are we as Christians to judge that???? Do we not believe that in time the Lord will deal with tender hearts? That we as Christians should show a tender spirit, and kind heart and a loving attitude? Why would we judge our fellow man when we are trying to get in the gates to the kingdom ourselves and it says clearly," Judge not lest ye be judged"? It saddens me to think that because of dress codes lost young people are going to remain lost... This preacher actually told the congregation that if you didn't change your clothes and appearance that is was up to them to CLEAN HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I was a bit appalled and to tell ya the truth he lost me right then and there. I took a glance at my wayward stepdaughter who since her release has been in church everytime the doors are open and is trying her best. I seen her head sink a little lower. I was proud of her she had on CLEAN Overalls, and clean shirt,, Her hair had been washed and styled,, her makeup was on... She felt good about herself after sinking so low in the filth of drug abuse and almost losing her baby that I was cringing inside and praying for the Lord to give her the strength to take this mans words in context and remember she was putting her best before GOD. I say we must be very careful from the pulpit about who we condemn in our churches... For we are all GODs kids and remember what he says about turning little ones away from him. That is a scary thought to me... I am going to pray for this and all preachers. I know they have a tough job but I think they really need to pray about sermons before hand and I know most do but I also know there are some out there that do not pray about what they need to be saying and for the wisdom and words to say it right. As for the tatoos and all the rest??? Well that I believe is a personal thing between you and the LORD. Just like your relationship with him. Heres the deal in a nut shell. What he tells one person to do may not be what he tells another one to do. The cold hard facts????? If your Father above tells you not to do it???? Then you best not. For as my daddy did he will and does deal out spankings and I for one do not like them from my Heavenly father any more than I liked them from my Daddy. They tend to last a little longer and I suffer a lot more. Well thats it for now. I just had to get that off my chest. Please please becareful how you look at others my friends. That kid that is turned away because of an attitude???? May someday be yours..... Blessings to you all!! BJ
