Situation
Posted On 05/06/2007 15:18:41
Well things are about all but hopeless. With the reduction in hours where I work I have gone from making $400 a week to $327 every 2 weeks. I lost the good job in Ft. Lauderdale because I would have had to start on May 1st . With the rent increase here we can't afford it now on my reduced salary so we will probably be on the street soon and there are no other jobs here to get, and if I work outside the home, I have to pay someone to sit with Vickie during the day while I am working. I have spent a lot of time this weekend packing so if we do get set out, at least things will be together.  All of the social assistance facilities are totally tapped out because of the high unemployment here. The local food bank has added 1400 new families in the last 60 days. Right now relocation is the ONLY option we have and that takes money as well. ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated. You can reach me here or 330-313-1188 (home phone) or 330-412-6887 (cell)

needing a lift

Every day I sit and listen to my wife crying in pain. I try to hold her but sometimes it is even too painful for her to be touched. The cold weather combined with the lack of sunlight has really taken a toll on her this year. We seriously need to move to a warmer climate but the funds to do so are not available. I feel like I have really let her down in this respect. I work every day but the job does not pay enough to be able to save anything and if I were to take a job outside of the home I would have to hire someone to sit with her. I am feeling like I am in a no win situation.

About Us

Thought I would send you a little letter of introduction and some info about us.
We are both 51 yrs of age. We are also both ordained ministers, me in the Baptist Church, my wife in the Nazarene Church. My wife suffers from MS and Polymyalgia Rheumatica originally diagnosed in 1992. The two diseases work against each other and are basically destroying her muscle system. The MS was in remission for several years until around July and August of last yr. Then it returned with a vengence. I have watched her age 20 yrs in the last 5 months. Right now she requires assistance with all basic daily needs such as dressing, bathing, and even getting out of bed. She cannot cook for herself and some days cannot even pick up a cup of coffee. I have to cut her food for her and do all but actually feed her. Some mornings it is a 10 minute walk from the bed room to the living room which is a distance of about 50 feet. Fortunately I can work from home right now so I can be here for her. It doesn't pay a bundle but we are making our bills. There is no way she could be home alone for a full day. We would definitely have to have a place without stairs. The docs have said getting her to a warmer climate would greatly help her. Also the only exercise she can do is swim, which does help her greatly but not possible here. She misses going to church so much. The last time for her was back in November and the cold air made her sick for two weeks. Apparently the MS has lowered her immune system greatly. It is also affecting her eyes and she has difficulty seeing our big screen tv from across the living room, or playing pogo on the computer.
As for me I am basically healthy with the exception of not being able to walk long distances or carry things very heavy as I shattered the bones in my left leg back in '04 from a fall. 9 breaks below the knee alone. It does not limit me a lot but the cold and icy streets does take a toll on it.I have been a contract paralegal for 27 yrs, and a certified computer engineer for 9 yrs.
We are looking to get into the south Fl area as soon as possible, so if you have any leads in that area, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank & Vickie
