It's Good To Know
Posted On 11/09/2006 14:04:22

It is good to know that there is a place that I can go when I need prayer and know that there will be several who pray for me when I needed.  Yes I have my family and I know they pray for me, and yes I have my church and I have gotten prayer there as wel. But sometimes I need more than that.  Sometimes I feel like I need to just storm the gates of Heaven with prayer.  And JCFaith has provided me with the means to do that.  I put out the need for prayer and within minutes I have comments and emails letting me know that my brothers and sisters in the Lord are praying.

JCFaith has touched my life as well as so many other lives just by being on the internet.  I thank God for Greg and those who helped him get JCFaith off the ground.  I ask God to bless these people and keep them safe.  They have done an amazing thing.  With all the garbage and stuff on the internet it is comforting to know that there is a safe place to go as well.

Why Your Vote Counts
Posted On 11/07/2006 12:05:22

What Does One Vote Mean?

History proves that every vote counts.

The one excuse heard most often for not voting in an election is, "my one vote won't make a difference." Yet history repeatedly proves the enormous power of one single vote.

  • In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.
  • In 1649, by just one vote, England 's King Charles I literally lost his head when the vote to behead him was 67 against and 68 for.
  • In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German.
  • In 1800, one vote won Thomas Jefferson the electoral college vote.
  • In 1820, one vote kept President James Monroe from being elected for a second term.
  • In 1845, one vote brought Texas into the union.
  • In 1846, one vote decided on war with Mexico.
  • In 1867, one vote ratified the Alaska Purchase - paving the way for the territory to be America 's largest state.
  • In 1868, one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment.
  • In 1875, one vote changed France from a monarchy to a republic.
  • In 1876, one vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the presidency of the U.S.
  • By just one vote, California, Oregon, Washington and Idaho became states.
  • In 1923, one vote gave Adolph Hitler leadership of the Nazi Party.
  • In 1941, one vote saved selective service - just weeks before Pearl Harbor was attacked.
  • In 1948, one vote per precinct gave Harry Truman the presidency.
  • In 1960, one additional voter per precinct in Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey and Texas would have denied John F. Kennedy the presidency and placed Richard Nixon in the white house eight years sooner.

Not getting epidural tomorrow
Posted On 11/06/2006 23:11:05

OK, someone somewhere messed up.  I saw the neuro on October 6th.  He told me he wanted me to get the epidural and his office would set it up right away.  A week later we still hadn't heard anything.  My hubby called the neuro's office and they said they were waiting for insurance to ok it.  The following week I heard from the doctors office that was doing the epidural that they were setting my appt. for today.  So I saw them and they set me up for tomorrow.  Then late this afternoon I find out I can't have it done because the pain management doctor is not in my network.  I asked her why the appointment was made if I wasn't in their network and she told me they had paperwork from my neuro saying to set it up ASAP.  So I called my neuro's office and the girl there denied ever sending anything to the pain managerment doctor.  In fact she told me they are still waiting on the insurance approval!  They only subbmitted it on October 18, around the same time that my husband called!  I asked her how the pain management doctor had all my work and she told me she had no idea but it didn't come from her office.  So I called the pain manangement  office back and his girl said "I have the paperwork in front of my from your neuro, it is stamped with his signature and all your medical records are here.  Your neuro's office referred you to us.  However, we can't treat you because we are not in your network."   So now I have to find a new pain management doctor and start over.  But I am so angry.  The gal in my neuro's office dropped the ball and I am the one paying for it.

So I am pretty upset.  I will make a few phone calls in the morning to complain about this but not really sure what good it will do.  I really need prayer.  I can't live like this.  I just want to cry.

Don't forget to vote tomorrow
Posted On 11/06/2006 17:00:48

Tomorrow is a very important day for American citizens.  It is the day we get to exercise a right and a priviledge to vote for the person we feel is the best to represent us.  For us in Arizona it is also a day to vote on a whole bunch of propositions.  One that I feel is very important is prop. 107.  This proposition basically states that marriage is to be between one man and one woman.  Many people have said they think it is a silly proposition because marriage is already between one man and one woman.  But I think it is a good proposition because this world is changing daily.  And if we don't have it written down exactly, I fear that some day there will be people who will want to say two men and one woman or one man, two women, or hey, why not a man and a monkey!  I know, some people laugh, but there was a time we would have thought killing an unborn baby would never be legal.  There was a time when we thought no one would ever consider a !@#$ couple could be married legally.

There are also many seats both congressionally and statewide that are very important.  If you have not voted already (I mailed my ballot in a few weeks ago), please vote tomorrow.  Vote wisely.  Don't vote for someone just because you recall reading something in the paper about them.  (Or vote against them for the same reason.)  Make sure you know your candidates and what they stand for.  DO NOT listen to the mudslingging that goes on and on and on.  Vote for them because of their record or vote against them because of their record.  Just vote.  HOWEVER, if you don't vote, don't complain if the wrong person gets elected.

My name is Sue Smith and I approved this message.  (Sorry...couldn't help myself!)

No Epidural today
Posted On 11/06/2006 16:21:05

I went to the doctor today for what I thought was going to be my epidural.  I had been nervous all morning because I don't like needles, and I especially don't like the idea of a needle in my spine.  The anestesiologist who is doing the epidural showed me a model of a spine he had in his office.  He showed me where my injury was, what the problems were and how he would do the epidural.  He will do it under x-ray so he can get it exactly where he wants it.  Then he told me he won't be doing it today.  He does it at the hospital.  So no epidural today.

I have to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 9:30.  They will do the epidural at 10:30 and I will head home at 11:30.

While I am having my epidural done, at the exact same time my hubby will be having surgery on his ear!   We both should be walking in the front door around noon tomorrow.  It will be interesting because he will be going home to bed to rest, and I will be going home to bed to rest.  Sure hope we can take care of each other!

All prayers will be a blessing!  The doctor told me it takes about 48 hours for it to work.  I am praying it does.  I want to get off the pain medicine and get back to normal.

The U in Jesus

THE U IN JESUS

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of His Son.

And each time U pray, you'll see it's true,
You can't spell out JesUs and not include U.

You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that's why He came.

And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

Isn't it thrilling and splendidly grand
He rose from the dead, with U in His plan?
The stones split away, the gold trUmpet blew,
And this word resUrrection is spelled with a U.

When JesUs left earth at His upward ascension,
He felt there was one thing He just had to mention.

"Go into the world and tell them it's true
That I love them all - Just like I love U."

So many great people are spelled with a U,
Don't they have a right to know JesUs too?

It all depends now on what U will do,
He'd like them to know,
But it all starts with U.

Allah or Jesus!!

Allah or Jesus!!

Interesting read...
The Muslim religion in the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!!!
Allah or Jesus?  By  Rick Mathes
Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance.
During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their beliefs.
I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say.

The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.  After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven.  If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"

There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!"

I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight.  All
followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in Heaven.  Is
that correct?"
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of "a little boy who had just been
caught with his hand in the cookie  jar."  He sheepishly replied, "Yes".

I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in Heaven!"

The Imam was speechless.
I continued, "I also have problem with being your "friend" when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to
kill me!  Let me ask you a question.  Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to Heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be there with me?"

You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.

Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.  In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President!  I think everyone in the US should be required to read this but with the liberal justice system, liberal media, and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized.

Please pass this on to all your e-mail contacts.  This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry.

Its Friday!
Posted On 10/27/2006 13:47:53

It is finally Friday.  It seems like this has been a long week for me.  Monday will be my last "flex" day until sometime next May.  Tuesday the 7th of November is election day.  Wednesday my job will start to go into full gear.  In a lot of ways that is good because during the interim (when the legislature is not in session) the days can drag by.

But I have a lot of concens because of my back.  I haven't been doing a lot of typing because it aggravates my lower back and sometimes the pain is just so hard to deal with.

On Monday, November 6th I will see the anistesiologist for an epidural.  I am really, really praying that it will work and that my back will begin to heal.  Because once the elections are over, my Senator will be back here every day and I'll be hopping.  I won't have time for pain.

After the elections it will also mean the "suits" will be back.  (That is my pet name for the lobbyists.)  So I will be busy making appointments as well.

And it also means I won't have near as much time to be online with JCFaith.  That is going to be hard for me.  I am going to try to get on at least a couple of times a day just to check on my friends both old and new.

I have come to really appreciate JCFaith.  It has blessed my life in a miriad of ways and brought me even closer to the Lord.  I seriously do not think I would have survived all this pain if it hadn't been for all the wonderful people who have been praying for me these past two months.  I truly am blessed.  Even when things seem to be not so great...I know life is still good.  And God is awesome!

allergic reaction
Posted On 09/27/2006 15:36:23
I started on the fentanyl pain patch 25mcg on August 29th. I was on it for 15 days and thought I was feeling ok with it. I did have a bout of dizziness but felt that was from flying to NC at 37,000 feet. I felt dizzy upon leaving the plane and thought maybe it was fluid but just in case, got an antibiotic from doc for possible ear infection. When I got back home the doc gave me 50 mcg of the patch since we thought i handled the 25 mcg ok. I was on that for five days when we got the ct scan showing how much damage was done to my back so doc increased dosage to 75 mgc. On day 6 of the 50 mcg I was feeling a bit dizzy but thought it was fluid on ear (I have had this problem in the past and was dx with positional vertigo). anyway, put on the new patch (75 mcg) on Thursday. On Friday I was a little itchy and dizzy and also unaware to myself, very loopy and out of my head. I took a benadryl for the itching and noticed my breathing was shallow. But before I got to concerned about it the benadryl knocked me out. The next morning i woke up and again noticed my breathing was shallow. I looked up side affect to the patch and shallow breathing was one of them. So i took of the 75 and put on the 50 hoping it would help. I got up and did housework to try not to think about it but that didn't work so I went grocery shopping. by the time i got home for the store i was gasping for air so called my dr who said to get to ER immediately. Went to ER and by this time I was shakiing so bad i thought i was having convulsions. My blood pressure was through the roof. They took me straight back to a room and dr came in almost immediately. By this time I was also very nasious and feeling like I was going to throw up. The doctor had them give me xanax 1 mg and reglan (not sure how much) and he cut my patch in half and told me i would have to be weened off it because i had been on it for a month now. He gave me a scrip for 25 mcg and also xanax 3 times a day and reglan as needed. He also told me to call my doctor first thing monday morning. My doctor has me still on the 25 mcg because we have to take me off it slowly and I am not allowed to go back to work or do anything. I am to just stay calm and stay on the xanax. I guess I could have died and didn't even know it because I was so stoned on this stuff. So I see the doctor again tomorrow and we'll go from there. He did say he doesn't know what to give me for pain now as I am basically allergic to everything we've ever tried. I am so tired, upset, feeling defeated and almost don't want to go on with my life (no I am not suicidal but just tired). Going off the patch means the pain comes back full force and no sleep, etc. Prayers are needed.
