My Relationship to Christ and my Christian walk

I had accepted Christ to be my Savior when I was 2, had some difficulty because of the poor example of my birth father but help in growth from my born again Christian mother. My birth father only claimed to be a Christian, but didn't live as one until the last year of his life after he was diagnosed with lung cancer. My mom had been influenced by him, but later rejected his influence and lived to serve God and has lead my sister and I to Christ by her words and example.

After my birth father died I was confused, but still saved. Before he was taken to the hospital, my father had died in his chair and was dead for a few minutes. My mom and a friend from Church prayed over him and he came back to life. That night he died the last time at VA hospital in Dallas TX, March 31st 1999. What I had seen kept me from doubting in God, but left me perplexed as to what was going to happen.

I had started reading the Bible in '98 and continued reading it into 2003, from cover to cover. I had questions come up that weren't fully answered by the study notes of the NIV study Bible and I was beginning to doubt regardless of seeing my dad come back to life and my mom's example. But in 2004 I was introduced to Dr. Wile's chemistry textbook. His example of being a PhD scientist and a Biblical Creationist was an encouragement to me as well as the few arguments in text as well.

I read though Dr Wile's book, Reasonable Faith, and it was the solution to my doubts. From there I read Evidence by Josh McDowell and the other apologetics works by Sarfati et al. I believed in a literal Creation before that, because the Bible doesn't present an ā€œalternativeā€, but now I could defend why I believed such from both a Biblical and scientific basis.

As for my personal walk with Christ, I must say that I still stumble and am not perfect, but I do not fall. I have less difficulty than I did when I was younger; as I get older I find it easier to reject sin. The most difficulty I have is with anger and forgiving. When I debate with people online they usually insult me and I try to let it go and not take it personally. I realize that it is God that the world hates, so if they see God in me or hear me tell the truth, they will hate me too. My problem is how I should respond to them. 1st Peter 3:14-16 tells me how, that I should respond with gentleness and respect, but still I have difficulty and need to work on this with help.

Jesus Christ is my Savior and Lord and I do my best to live to honor Him.
