http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp For anyone with kids, grand kids, other relatives or friends who this may concern, I have checked it out at snopes.com and it is true. All, There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The Golden Compass". The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series. Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed." While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of Jesus Christ. "The Golden Compass" is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season, and will probably be heavily advertised. Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas. Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass this information along to everyone you know. This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie |

Amen.....this movie is definitely not for a Christian to watch.........Scriptures tell us to avoid all appearance of evil and also not to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather REPROVE them. It also says if we see the enemy coming and we do not sound the alarm and warn them then we stand to answer to God for that...
What saddens me is so many of our Churches are backing movies like this......for example "The Chronicles of Narnia". I do not know what has happened to so many Christians gift of Descernment but it seems to be lacking in our Churches today. Even I felt an evil feeling with-in me before I had ever even seen an advertisement of that movie when I saw Bible Covers with that engraved on them at Wal-Mart. It actually gave me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. Which is what caused me to get on the internet and search out not only that Movie but the man C.S.Lewis who wrote it. If anyone could back him or that movie after searching both of them out then it is time for them to search their own hearts and lifes and see as The Bible says "Whether they are in the Faith or not". We are the ones suppose to be guiding and guarding our little ones with their ever curious learning minds....Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it it is written. And if Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God then what is attaching itself to our little ones or those who watch things like this.......from those things? Anyways Thumbs up for you who are not afraid to still stand for what is right and proud to still stand for the Faith when most the world is running against you. As The Word says "Well Done' thou good and faithful servant.....Enter into the Joy of The Lord......In Christ's Service For-ever....Faith_2flyon3/aka/Coleen ![]() |

I saw it about a week ago. It really wasn't very uh... "evil.." it was a kind of crappy movie, but nothing to be scared of. I started to read the books, but Mom took them away when she did research on the author.
Mehh. I guess the story was sort of dumb, anyhow. But honestly, I didn't have a problem with any spiritual content or anything in it... but Pullman is a wacko. And to faith_2flyon3: C.S. Lewis is a Christian. Very much so. You should read his books sometime. The Chronicles of Narnia is about Jesus, really. Aslan represents the Messiah in that series. The movies are pretty awesome, too. |
