I was downloading a song and saw where it said you have to own the copyright to the song. What does that mean? Can I download Third Day or songs from WOW?

Yes...you can uploadto/play published music on your page using MP3 Music players. What copy means --in the case of what your concern is-- is you cannot download music to your computer for personal use or make copies for profit (sell copies to your friends)...in fact, you cannot use copyrighted/published music for any profit without permission from the artist/publisher. The internet--to my understanding and I could be wrong..wouldn't be the first time LOL-- is considered akin to 'Airwaves"/radio stations ...you are not breaking the law by listening to music on the internet just like listening to it on your radio. Also...if your Christian ethics will not let you listen to an mp3 player downloaded to your page...You can Amend that in a number of ways--just short of Asking the artist-producer 's permission-- by 1. purchasing the Artist's CD, 2. encouraging your visitors to also purchase their CD's and 3. add a link to the Artist's Web page, and encourage your guests to visit it themselves. Can't beat free advertisement! Link to Third Day's Web page Copy and paste this html for the above link and paste it under your mp3 player:
There was so much theft of music for profit (piracy), that the publishers had to put safeguards on the Artist's CDs. That is the reason for the warning...(it is like that tag you see on your mattress...you know-- it is against the law to remove it and you can be prosecuted for it. That is for the vendor not the customer. LOL)

A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. C. S. Lewis |
