Please pray for my 16 year old son, I think he is taking drugs, I'm not sure. He has failed school the last 2 years, has no motivation, and his attitude is horrible.

I have bipolar disorder, so I'm confused , does he have it? I am sooooo tired of fighting with him.

Please pray that God will send an answer, so I can get him the help he needs.

Hi Darlene... I have 2 teenage boy's (ages 15 and 16) so I know what you're going through somewhat. Both my boy's have "attitudes" at times so I think that's the norm. (in most teenagers ... not all) However, Do NOT give into him when he's saying things to push your buttons. Tell him "We'll talk about this when you can talk civil to me" and walk away!!! You need to keep the communication lines open because he needs your guidance (not that of his peers) and won't accept it if he thinks he can't "talk"  to you. So... If you feel you've disconnected somewhere along the line... do whatever it takes to reconnect. I read this saying somewhere ... It goes something like this... ~When we're at our worst we need Love the most~ Isn't that true!? I mean... when I've made mistakes ... when I make wrong choices ... I'd want someone to understand and say "Ok...You messed up but I still Love you and am here for you."

Anyways... Is there "testing" that can be done to see if your son is bipolar? Maybe you should look into that first.

About the drugs... If I thought either of my boy's were using drugs I'd first ask them. If they refused to answer me or if they told me "no" but the "signs" were there (that they "were" using drugs)... I'd buy a home drug test and wouldn't warn them ahead of time.

DEAR SISTER I HAVE BEEN THRU THIS WITH 2 GROWN CHILDREN AND NOW A 16 YR OLD DAUGHTER...I AGREE WITH JOY ABOVE...ASK YOUR SON AND IF YOU STILL FEEL UNEASY DO A HOME TEST WITHOUT TELLING HIM FIRST...REMEMBER TO EDUCATE YOURSELF - ONLINE RESEARCH IS GREAT- ABOUT THE DIFFERENT WAYS DRUGS AND DIFFERENT KINDS OF DRUGS WILL CAUSE HIM TO BEHAVE.  ALSO SEEK OUT HELP FROM THOSE WHO HAVE GONE THRU THIS WITH THEIR KIDS LOCALLY OR ONLINE....YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT YOU WILL LEARN.  I HAVE WORKED WITH TEENS FOR NEARLY 20 YRS AND BELIEVE ME I AM STILL LEARNING BUT ONE THING I KNOW IS THEY ARE GOOD AT HIDING BUT IF YOU ARE GOOD AT RESEARCHING YOU WILL SEE THE SIGNS AND YOU WILL KNOW.....ALSO I USED TO TAKE ANNOINTING OIL AND PRAY OVER MY KIDS WHILE THEY SLEPT AND I ANNOINTED A CLOTHE AND PUT IT UNDER THEIR BED MATTRESS WHILE THEY WERE OUT OF THE HOUS...I WOULD PRAY OUT LOUD OVER EVERY THING IN THEIR ROOMS WHILE THEY WERE GONE....AND SILENTLY OVER THEM WHILE THEY SLEPT AT NIGHT.  LISTEN TO HIS CONVOS WITH HIS FRIENDS....THEY TALK IN CODE ......KIDS LANGUAGE LOL ....BUT IF YOU LISTEN YOU WILL PICK UP THINGS.....YOU CAN DO THIS WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE.  HAVE HIM TESTED FOR BI-POLAR WHILE YOU STILL HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO HELP HIM.....I FAILED TO DO THIS IN TIME WITH MY OLDEST CHILD.....HE AND I BOTH REGRET THAT NOW...THERE ARE BLOOD TESTS THAT CAN BE DONE TO CHECK FOR SEROTONIN AND OTHER NEUROTRANSMITTERS LEVELS IN THE BLOOD AND DIET I HAVE FOUND PLAYS ALOT TO DO WITH MY 16 YR OLD'S TEMPERMENT AND BEHAVIOUR....CAFFEINE AND SUGAR REALLY MAKE HER WILD AND MOODY....LACK OF SLEEP TOO.....I JUST STOPPED BUYING CAFFEINATED DRINKS AND THAT MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE ONCE SHE HAD DETOXED FROM THEM.  ANYWAYS I PRAY THIS HELPS....I AM HERE IF YOU NEED ME.....LOVEING YOU IN JESUS...LORI ANN

Praying for you both. I am in agreement with both Joy and Lori Ann. I have a 17 year old son. Just a heads up.....check to see if he has depression also. Kids are very good at hiding things...they are also moody as heck at times. I am a recovering alcoholic and I remember how it totally changed my personality. This could be many things with your boy...Do not stop checking things out....also you may want to try going to an alanon meeting yourself...you may gain some wisdom at a meeting. Good luck sister...

Things are getting worse, I don't know what to do, very depressed.
