Last year I was involved in a child abuse case that was very, very grim. The people would strap down a 2-year-old in a car seat, POUR hot sauce into her mouth, and punch her in the face while she screamed, then leave her in a closet for hours. They did other things, too, like stripping off her clothes and then both of them standing over her and screaming obscenities at her while they beat her with belts. It was awful. I HAD to try to do something. Who can walk away from that kind of thing?? Eventually, after much work, the child was removed from them and they served about 6 months in the county jail. But that was their whole sentence. They got free this week and one of them, who has a history of mental illness and violence, has sworn to make me "pay for it," apparently blaming me for the child being removed from the family and for their jail sentence. But I feel that *I* did not do that to them; they did it to themselves. I begged them many times to consider different ways of dealing with the child, I found them a psychologist who would counsel them for free (they refused to see her), I gave them articles on child discipline methods, etc.,.....they would never listen. And then they got involved with a drug called meth, and there was no reasoning with them at all.

If I had walked away from that situation without trying to help that child....I could not have lived with myself. But I knew the day would come that those women would be set free and want to take revenge on me, and that day came this week. So any and all prayers of protection that you would send to me, you just don't know how much I would appreciate it.
