What do you people think about christian metal? I've had lots of people say that ALL metal is satanic and that none of it can possibly be Christian. I totally disagree with that statement, because that is limiting God and NOTHING is impossible with God. In case some people haven't heard of some bands, I suggest Living Sacrifice, Becoming the Archetype, Soul Embraced, Tourniquet, Mortification, & Extol.

I do not like Metal music of any kind, but I cannot say that it isn't possible to be a Christian metal band. You are right, to say that it is impossible would be limiting God and it is not good to do that! We need to spread the gospel any way that we can and using different types of music reaches many different types of people. Go for it!!

yes, but "death metal" is only a genre. you don't necessarily have to write about death or anything previous "death metal" bands have written, just have the same style of music. |

heh....I've seen Extol and Soul Embrace live before...there is nothing wrong with christian metal at all...there shouldn't even be an argument on it....if you're not thinking or even questioning if this type of music is worshiping the lord than you need to get the stereotype out of your butt and stop judging other people, I've had to many people(anti-christian and christians themselves) come up to me and tell me that the music I listen to is wrong or contradicting to my faith...well it beats the crap out of paying lip service to a local church, these guys play their hearts out night after of night all in the glory God and tell everyone around them in lyrics, word from mouth, and in the way they act...well except As I Lay Dying....bottom line is that its worshiping God one way or another, just do it your way...oh just to add to your list some of my favourite bands are The Devil Wears Prada, Demon Hunter, Staple, August Burns Red, East West, Norma jean, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, The Showdown, Haste the Day, Still Remains...

amen to everyone's posts. metal is just a style of music. its how its used that determines if its good or not. Christians aren't going to sing about stuff all the mainstream metalheads sing about, so why do some people make a big deal about it? Christian music is Christian music, who cares what style of music it is? Metalheads (including myself) aren't going to drastically change to country or soft rock just because some people think all metal is satanic. people who like metal like it because it's their style of music, so it's good that there's Christian metal out there for us to listen to instead of mainstream stuff. |
