Making it thru brain surgery Part 2
Posted On 10/20/2006 21:42:39 by hunger4holiness
Thanks for "Tuning" in for Part 2 of my story.

Well when I got home I still had 30 days of IV antibotics to deal with as well as an 8 inch row of staples on my head which by the way was a real shock to my system when I first saw them. I still have a staple row on my head above my left ear.
Well anyway, the day after I got home my wife recieved a letter in the mail from her employer informing her that she was being "laid off". Oh great! We thought
I can't work and now my wife is being laid off ! Now what are we going to do?
We went from making $75,000 a year to making Zip, zero, Nada! I still had over $12,000 dollars worth of antibotics to pay for plus a $75,000 hospital bill to deal with! Yes, our insurance paid for part of the hospital bill but everything after the week my wife was laid off was NOT covered anymore, almost $20,000 More. Thats when my praying Momma and my Wife's sisters
Patty and Sandra sprung into action .They started call everybody they knew asking for help. It wasn't long before we started getting cards in the mail , each one with A check or cash in it. I never experienced such an awesome outpouring of love in my life. Patty got my rent dropped for that month and the guys from the concrete plant I worked at got some money together and sent it to me. My Mom even started sending me her tithes to help out, you see she always referrred to me as her pastor because I convinced her and my Dad to start going back to church one time when they had stopped going.
Yes our lifestyle did change quite a bit during that 9 month stretch. We went from eating at Outback, Red Lobster and Kobe's to McDonalds Burger King and Krystal and thats when someone gave us some money to go there.
My wife was able to draw enemployment for a few months and Thanks to God we were able to get Medicaid and Food stamps to help out. ALL of my medical bill were covered... Did you Hear me? ... I said ALL off them, even back 90 days from the time we were approved ,Even what our insurance did not cover. Thank You Jesus! MY God is an Awesome God! We did lose our new car and had to give up some luxurys (cable, fancy resturants, Etc.)
but we kept our house, we had another car that was paid for and an endless supply of loving friends and family that made sure that we Never went hungry! When I was able I did some odd jobs to make a little money. I worked at the Masters Golf  Tournament in Augusta and Both me and my Wife worked at a Strawberry patch selling strawberries, ( made some good money doing that, All Cash!) We had several yard Sales with stuff that my Mom and Sister in laws Patty and Sandra got people to donate to us and of Course I sold a Little of my BBQ at the yard sales which was the genesis of my now BBQ and Catering business. God Really blessed us during that time!
Now you all know that I made my living as a truck driver and that my docters told me that I might as well give that up So I called the South Carolina Dept.
of Vocational Rehab and related my story and they accepted me into Vocational Rehab in Columbia South Carolina. There I went thru test after test, exercise after exercise, mental challenge after mental challenge and they determined that I still Had It! My mental capacity that is(my IQ 121, normal 90)! So they were going to send me to school to get my A+ computer certification! Thanks SCDVR!
But thats Not what happened............I'll talk about that in Part 3.
Stay tuned and God Bless!
