All Around UsWhile driving home I felt a pain across my chest and numbness down my left arm. At first I thought it was from working so many hours that week, I’d just finished my second double shift in a row. When I got home the pain got worse. I just wanted to get some sleep and not spend hours awake in the hospital E.R. to be told- “All I need is rest.”
Finally I told my husband about the pain and he made me go. I took a pillow and laid down in the back seat while he drove me there. By this time I couldn’t move my left arm. They run an EKG and there must of been a dozen people check to make sure the wires were right and the settings OK.They called a heart specialist down to look at me and he referred me to another Cardiologist and more tests.
I told my husband to go ahead and pick our child up from pre- school, I was in the best place I could be and not to worry about leaving me for a little while to pick her up. We got our little girl a Bible story book last year and each night I have to read to her from that book before she will go to bed. She knows them all by heart.
They did a heart cath and rushed me right in to the O.R. It seems I had a blockage that couldn’t wait. The O.R. is kept very cool and the hands of all the nurses were like ice as they got me ready. The drugs were starting to work and I was half out of it. I knew a few of the nurses since I also was a nurse working there in the hospital, but on a different unit.
My head was turned the other way when I felt a warm hand take hold of mine. I turned to see who had such warm hands. The operating mask covered their face and all I could see was the eyes, but you could tell it was a man. He cupped my hand in both of his and said; “Don’t worry- your one of us and you will be taken good care of.”
My husband returned and was lead to the waiting room outside of the O.R. He was told all the risks factors and what chances I had, the odds were 60/40 and not in my favor. They said it may take 2 or 3 hours to do the surgery. The Dr. will come out and let you know more after the surgery is completed. Our child waited there also.
Hours later a man came out of the O.R. doors and told my husband that everything went well and I would make a full recovery. He said; “She is one of us.” Then he hugged my husband and turned to our daughter & placed his right hand on her head and said; “Bless you.”
My dear husband thought it odd, but nothing more at the time because he thought, that maybe the Dr. knew me since I worked there. Until the Dr. that done the surgery came out about thirty minutes later and told my husband things looked promising. My husband said; Yes I know, healready told us the good news. She said; I’m her Dr. what “He” told you this?
My husband said; I thought he was her Dr? She said; Your wife was the only patient in surgery and there are no men working this shift in the O.R. right now and I just now finished with her surgery, thirty minutes ago we didn’t know if things were going to be OK or not.
Security was called and attempts to find this man came up empty handed. No one remembered seeing this man any where around the O.R or the waiting area. But we will never forget seeing him or the words he spoke. Our daughter tells this story the best, about the Angel that- “Healed Mommy- Hugged Daddy- and Blessed me!”
There are angels all around us and we do see them, but we are just too busy to notice them.
