Too often, we find that there are misconceptions in the area of conduct and relationships among the Single Community in the Church. There are some who feel that they can still live and make choices like they did before they came to Christ. It needs to be understood that every decision that we make doesn’t just affect us as individuals. Bad choices in the Single Community can cause breakdowns on different levels of the Body. So many people in and out of the Church can be affected by them. After we get saved and profess Godliness, there is an exampled life that we must live. But when the matters of the flesh, heart, and emotions are dealt with; it can alter how we think and live. God made us spiritual and social beings. So even after we get saved there is a need for us to interact socially with people. But, if not done in accordance with God’s will; it can stifle our effectiveness as Believers in the Body. The adversary would love for us to feel that we can’t be saved and single at the same time. But, we must understand that we’ve been empowered to live a Holy and Sanctified life and make healthy choices.
It is amazing how many challenges a Child of God goes through while being single. We may have repented of our sins and been baptized in the name of Jesus, but we’re still human. We may have received the gift of the Holy Ghost, but we’re still in the flesh. Are there exceptions made for us? Can we be saved, single and satisfied? Is there a different set of rules that we can live by and still declare that we are saved? Or, do we really have the ability to live Holy through the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in us?
Noone should ever feel insulted or offended by this subject. Instead, we should strive to expose and further educate ourselves in every area of our lives as Single Believers. Despite the odds, we can maintain Healthy Christian Living while truly being Single. We can be Saved, Single, and Satisfied!
God Bless,
Elder Joseph Swann
