There are times when we must suffer for the Lord

Philippians 1:29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.

I read that this verse is almost never preached in church.

I think I know why. There are many pastors who give this idea to their church, that since we are saved and believers, that things should go fine and dandy with us. No bad things should happen to us because we have God on our side!!

Yeah well sometimes we do have to suffer. The Lord may give us hardships to test us and our faith. It could be anything. Marriage problems, money problems, you or a close realative or friend ends up in the hospital from an accident or needs a serious operation, lonelyness, rejection from certain people, problems at work or finding a job, your house getting destroyed in a disaster and more. Or you suffer for the Lord by people close to you mocking what you believe in.

Just read the book of Job. Look what Job had to go through. But in the end he came out with everything he used to have and more!

I hope plenty of people read this and remember to apply it!

Related to what you wrote, and to the book of Job, one of my teachers in college said to us that nowadays, it's so easy to look at your brother or sister, while they are going through hard times, and start judging them. And you can find many "reasons" for the trials in their lives. But the truth is that God may just want them refined like pure GOLD, just like Job. Job was righteouss. Still, God allowed terrible trials in his life, and in the end, as you said, He gave him more. That made me think twice before judging my brothers or my sisters. Dunno, just felt like sharing this.

God bless you.
