Taming of the Tongue

Today’s Blog is going to be a little different; and I know its a little long but its worth your time please read with me.

I n Jam 3:8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Jam 3:9 with it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
Jam 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Strange isn’t it how our success with wild animals does not extend to the area of his or her own tongue when it comes to taming. If we are honest, we will have to admit that this is true in our own lives. Because of the fall, we have lost dominion over our tongues. Human nature does not have the ability or strength to govern this little member.

the tongue can poison minds and assassinate characters. We all know how easy it is to gossip about others. Have we ever engaged in mudslinging in order to get even for supposed wrongs? And often for no reason at all we have belittled others, criticized them, made them feel small. Can we always appreciate the harm done, the tears that have flowed, the broken hearts and even sometimes ruined reputations? Do we realize the misery it has brought to our own lives? The inward bitterness that has been aroused, the shame of having to apologize, the bad effects on our health. How often have we maybe to our shame indulged in gossip about a fellow believer. The price we have to pay for the undisciplined use of our tongues are enormous. Only God can bring it under control. James talks about the tongue as an unruly evil. Possibly, James has in mind a restless serpent, with exceedingly poisonous venom. A drop or two would be fatal
Pray daily that the Lord will keep us from gossip, censoriousness, and unkind speech. Don’t talk unfavorably about anyone; love covers a multitude of sins.

1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

One of my favorite songs it goes like this

Oh Be Careful
(VS 1) Oh, be careful little ears, what you hear (repeat)
For the Father Up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little ears
what you hear.

(VS 2) Oh, be careful little eyes, what you see, (repeat)
For the Father up above,
is looking down in love,
So be careful little eyes
What you hear.

(VS 3) Oh, be careful little mouth, what you say, (repeat),
For the Father up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little
mouth what you say.

(VS 4) Oh, be careful little hands, what you do (repeat),
For the Father up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little hands
What you do

(VS 5) Oh, be careful little feet where you go (repeat)
For the Father up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little feet,
Where you go.
(VS 6) Oh, be careful little mind what you think (repeat)
For the Father up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little mind,
What you think.

(VS 7) Oh, be careful little heart what you love (repeat)
For the Father up above,
Is looking down in love,
So be careful little heart,
What you love.

So the next time we would hastily use the power of language let's just take note and be careful that we refrain from causing undue hurt to another.
