G-d vs God
Posted On 01/18/2007 18:53:40 by RavMac

Many have expressed concern because I write G-d with a hyphen ( - ) I do this with L-rd as well. I prefer to use Adonai, HaShem, but often use G-d and L-rd. I do this out of respect and to not violate taking the name of G-d in vain.

In the King James G-d is often refered to as Adonai, which is what HE is called by traditional Judaism as well as Messianic's.

It is NOT a salvation issue, as we are saved ONLY by the Grace of G-d in Yeshua/Jesus the Messiah.

Many Places in Scripture the Tetragrammaton 'YHWH or YHVH' ' yod, hey, vav, hey' is spelled out only, NO one knows the exact pronunciation of the Name of G-d, the distinct personal name of G-d.. The word G-d is used to describe His Diety, and eternal nature. As for myself and other's using G-d and L-rd, please understand we do it strictly out of respect for the Most High, and for that reason only. We don't take G-d's name in any form lightly, and in our speech and our writing, we are ever so cautious as to not make the Name of Adonai common or use it with out respect.

I pray it offends none, and if it does please accept my apologies, but I will not profane the name of or the descriptor of G-d.

Shalom u'vracha b'Shem b'Yeshua haMoshiach - Peace and Blessings in the Name of Yeshua the Messiah
