I was born and raised in Porterville, CA. When we go out of town and try to tell people where we are from, it's usually..."In between Fresno and Bakersfield" because no one knows where Porterville is.
It's all about "God" and "Family" with me.
My mother passed away when I was just 4 years old and her mother, my saint of a Grandmother, raised me, (just like she had done for many of her other grand children when they were young.)
She was a prayer warrior in every sense of the word and even though she had no car, she made sure we made it to church on Sundays. I developed a deep love of the Lord and as I grew older and kind of fell away, He kept me close and helped me find my way back to Him.
My husband, Perry, and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary on November 22nd! We met while we were both still in high school.
I attended Porterville High and Perry went to Monache High (the new school in town.) Of course our schools were fierce cross-town rivals. Our lives probably would have never crossed paths, but he worked as a box boy at our local super market..and he had no problem asking out a "Panther." We began dating the summer before our senior year and after we graduated, he popped the big question. As you can tell, I said "Yes!"
Because we were so young, life was not easy. The first two years of our marriage, our friends were taking bets to see how long we would survive!
Feeling a void in my life, I had returned to church, but could never persuade Perry to go. My husband was not a Christian when we married and was not raised in a Christian home, so he didn't buy into the whole religious thing.
But, I remained steadfast and prayerful and he began to see a change in me, a more peaceful and happy me. Eventually, Perry began going to church activities and attending holiday services. Although he was reluctant at first, I could see God working in him. One of the happiest moments in my life is when I got to see Perry saved and then baptized! :)
Soon after that God gave us our daughter, Christina. Wow, she really changed things in our lives! Our little blessing! All of a sudden life had a whole new meaning. The blessings began to pour out abundantly! We were active leaders in the church. I was called to be our church's song leader and we were both youth leaders.
One of my childhood friends, Shannon, Perry and I formed a country/gospel trio named "Sonrise" and we traveled throughout the community singing and witnessing. Those were some of the most cherished years of my life.
Of course, times change and it was no different for us. Shannon moved to a different church, and the group eventually dispersed. We tried to carry on for a while using demo tapes, but even though everyone enjoyed it, it just wasn't the same for us. After a few years, our church went through some major changes and our family moved on.
(fast forward...)
Ten years after our daughter's birth... long after we thought we would have another child, God blessed us with the birth of our son, Dustin....the second greatest gift that I have ever received!
I was a working mom, and (Mothers, I'm sure you can relate to this) I spent a lot of time "running on empty." It was during this time that I discovered just how special my daughter, Christina, was! She was only ten years old, but she was always there to help me with whatever I needed. I often tell people that Dustin had two moms..me and his sister! I know the two of them have a bond that is much tighter than many siblings because of it.
We have always been very active in our children's lives... coaching their various sports and activities, and now that they are both young adults, we just sit back with pride and think.."We have been blessed!"
I enjoy a warm, sunny day at the beach, sitting by our family pool and entertaining friends and family (not all at the same time, of course.) We have 3 dogs, 1 cat and another adopted cat, all of whom who I love dearly.
Words that describe me might be (in my opinion anyway) loving, compassionate, great wife, mom and friend, funny, imaginative, creative, spiritual and emotional. I hate to admit it but, I am not perfect. My kids say I am moody at times and I can be overly-sensitive, but I am a work in progress. :)

I love to sing, mostly country-gospel, but I like to sing music from many different genres.
I love to watch my son play baseball, and I love to watch and listen to my daughter and son-in-law perform. They are musicians and are on fire for the Lord. They have a newly formed band named Endless and are on the praise and worship team at one of our local churches.
I love family game nights, bunco with our crazy bunch of girls, creating cool things with my graphics program as well as creating slide show DVD's using family pix and music!
