I was born and raised in Porterville, CA. When we go out of town and try to tell people where we are from, it's usually..."In between Fresno and Bakersfield" because no one knows where Porterville is.
It's all about "God" and "Family" with me. My mother passed away when I was just 4 years old and her mother, my saint of a Grandmother, raised me, (just like she had done for many of her other grand children when they were young.) She was a prayer warrior in every sense of the word and even though she had no car, she made sure we made it to church on Sundays. I developed a deep love of the Lord and as I grew older and kind of fell away, He kept me close and helped me find my way back to Him.

My husband, Perry, and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary on November 22nd! We met while we were both still in high school. I attended Porterville High and Perry went to Monache High (the new school in town.) Of course our schools were fierce cross-town rivals. Our lives probably would have never crossed paths, but he worked as a box boy at our local super market..and he had no problem asking out a "Panther." We began dating the summer before our senior year and after we graduated, he popped the big question. As you can tell, I said "Yes!"

Because we were so young, life was not easy. The first two years of our marriage, our friends were taking bets to see how long we would survive! Feeling a void in my life, I had returned to church, but could never persuade Perry to go. My husband was not a Christian when we married and was not raised in a Christian home, so he didn't buy into the whole religious thing. But, I remained steadfast and prayerful and he began to see a change in me, a more peaceful and happy me. Eventually, Perry began going to church activities and attending holiday services. Although he was reluctant at first, I could see God working in him. One of the happiest moments in my life is when I got to see Perry saved and then baptized! :)

Soon after that God gave us our daughter, Christina. Wow, she really changed things in our lives! Our little blessing! All of a sudden life had a whole new meaning. The blessings began to pour out abundantly! We were active leaders in the church. I was called to be our church's song leader and we were both youth leaders. One of my childhood friends, Shannon, Perry and I formed a country/gospel trio named "Sonrise" and we traveled throughout the community singing and witnessing. Those were some of the most cherished years of my life. Of course, times change and it was no different for us. Shannon moved to a different church, and the group eventually dispersed. We tried to carry on for a while using demo tapes, but even though everyone enjoyed it, it just wasn't the same for us. After a few years, our church went through some major changes and our family moved on.

(fast forward...)
Ten years after our daughter's birth... long after we thought we would have another child, God blessed us with the birth of our son, Dustin....the second greatest gift that I have ever received! I was a working mom, and (Mothers, I'm sure you can relate to this) I spent a lot of time "running on empty." It was during this time that I discovered just how special my daughter, Christina, was! She was only ten years old, but she was always there to help me with whatever I needed. I often tell people that Dustin had two moms..me and his sister! I know the two of them have a bond that is much tighter than many siblings because of it. We have always been very active in our children's lives... coaching their various sports and activities, and now that they are both young adults, we just sit back with pride and think.."We have been blessed!"

I enjoy a warm, sunny day at the beach, sitting by our family pool and entertaining friends and family (not all at the same time, of course.) We have 3 dogs, 1 cat and another adopted cat, all of whom who I love dearly. Words that describe me might be (in my opinion anyway) loving, compassionate, great wife, mom and friend, funny, imaginative, creative, spiritual and emotional. I hate to admit it but, I am not perfect. My kids say I am moody at times and I can be overly-sensitive, but I am a work in progress. :)

I love to sing, mostly country-gospel, but I like to sing music from many different genres. I love to watch my son play baseball, and I love to watch and listen to my daughter and son-in-law perform. They are musicians and are on fire for the Lord. They have a newly formed band named Endless and are on the praise and worship team at one of our local churches.

I love family game nights, bunco with our crazy bunch of girls, creating cool things with my graphics program as well as creating slide show DVD's using family pix and music!

Every evening As I'm lying here in bed, This tiny little prayer Keeps running through my head. God bless my mom and dad And bless my little pup, And look out for my sister When things aren't looking up. And God, there's one more thing I wish that you could do, Hope you don't mind me asking But please bless my computer too? Now I know that's not normal To bless a mother board, But just listen a second While I explain to you 'My Lord'. You see, that little metal box Holds more to me than odds & ends, Inside those small compartments Rest all of my 'BEST FRIENDS'. I know for sure they like me By the kindness that they give, And this little scrap of metal Is how I travel to where they live. By faith is how I know them Much the same as you, I share in what life brings them From that our friendship grew. Please take an extra minute From your duties up above, To bless this scrap of metal That's filled with so much love! Have a blessed Monday, my friend. Love-N-Hugs Marcia

A TRUE FRIEND
A true friend never walks away
A true will always stay
A true friend looks out for you
A true friend will guard your secrets
Like a precious gift
A true friend is there for you
To give you a helpful lift
A true friend tries to make you smile
Tries to replace that frown
They may not always succeed
But they rarely let you down
These arms for you are open
This heart for you does care
And when I think you need me
I'll try to always be there
I'll listen to your fears
I promise not to laugh
Comfort your falling tears
I'll make this friendship last
I'll keep you near to my heart
I'll always hold you dear
Even when we're miles apart
Even when you're here
I hope I am to you
Everything you are to me
For the friendship we have
Is a special one indeed.

My Dearest Friend, Sheril

God really blessed me when he gave me you as a friend.
Your friendship I will always value, and always hold close to my heart.

Love-N-Blessings

A Best Friend!

A friend that really cares!

All my secrets i can share!

There when i need a hand!

There to understand!

When i cry!

She will be by!

If i am away!

She will call me day by day!

If i need her at all!

She'll be there to stand tall!

Anything i say will be heard!

She will listen word by word!

If I am late!

She will open the gate!

As she looks in my eyes!

The sparkle she realize!

She is the one that cares!

And the one thats there!

That's a best Friend!!

Just wanted you to know that you are such a blessing to me, and I couldn't of asked for a better friend, than you!

Easter is celebrated the first Sunday following the full moon after the Equinox (or 1st day of spring). This is not true when the full moon is on the Saturday after the Equinox, then Easter isn't celebrated that Sunday but the following week.

I was caught off guard this year that Easter was so early when the news was showing footage of the celebration of Fat Tuesday (New Orleans Mardi Gras), which is always the day before Ash Wednesday.  (Don't ask me why that is... I don't know much about Mardi Gras).    The Equinox was on Thurs. March 20th (can be the 21st too, but 2008 was the 20th), and the full moon was on Good Friday.  So cool!

This is such a rare event that the next time this will happen isn't until 2160, and the last time Easter was this early in the spring was way back in 1913.  Amazing!    I consider myself to be blessed to be alive to see this.

The earliest that Easter can be celebrated is March 20th, and that hasn't happened since 1818 and won't happen again until 2285 !!!!

HE IS RISEN!
Luke 24:6 as prophesied in Isaiah 53
Christ defeated death, and freed us to live!
